UW Veterinary Care is the veterinary medical teaching hospital for the UW School of Vet Med
UW Veterinary Care is open to the public and provides comprehensive routine care, specialty care, and 24-hour emergency care for dogs, cats, horses, livestock and exotic pets, including birds, reptiles, and small mammals. It houses more than 20 specialties under one roof, the most of any clinic in Wisconsin.
UW Veterinary Care’s Neurology department is seeking neurologically normal French Bulldogs to participate in a new study evaluating French Bulldogs’ structural conformation and potential underlying neurologic impacts. We will be performing neurologic exams, physical exam, x-rays of the spine, and pressure testing on those enrolled. We ask that the French Bulldogs enrolled not have a history of back pain or other neurologic disease. We also request that these patients are not on any medications other than preventatives. We are actively enrolling for the week of September 9th, with appointments ready for Monday-Friday. Please reach out to [email protected] for more information.
Clinical research allows us to develop new and more effective diagnostic and treatment options. UW Veterinary Care clinicians and staff are dedicated to raising the standard of care by using the latest technologies, while also performing research to advance veterinary and human medicine now and in the future.

We have a new clinical study for dogs who need unilateral enucleation of the eye. Owners will receive a $200 credit toward the surgery and pain management medication to administer post-surgery. The study will assess which medication is better at controlling post-operative pain. Participants will get priority when scheduling and must have temperaments that allow frequent handling for pain assessment.
