In democracies, sometimes the other person wins. The closeness of the race highlights the difference every vote can make, especially in local elections. Though some of us didn't win, everyone running shared a commitment to make Manchester better and we should all support the newly-elected boards in that goal. Many thanks to our friends and supporters. You know who you are.

This term, I was honored to chair the School Board's Teaching & Learning Committee. I'm proud of my votes and record to support new initiatives, and I'm proud of the progress our board made to confront some very difficult challenges for the benefit of our community's students.

"I served six terms on the Manchester School Board. I heartily endorse Kathy Kelley Arnold for re-election to the board in ward 2. She consistently votes for public education, and works hard to see that support gets the job done!" - Rep. Chris Herbert, former School Board Member

"It was my pleasure to serve with Kathy on the School Board. Kathy has always been willing to work with all members of the board to confront the district's challenges. In re-electing Kathy to the School Board, we get an experienced and caring person. I urge the voters of Ward 2 to vote Kathy Kelley Arnold on November 2nd and get the best representation for our children." - Stephen Dolman, Former School Board Member and Retired Educator
College and career readiness is an important issue facing our community’s young people, and we want parents to be involved in that process. In the Manchester School District, we encourage individual student planning with the help of high school guidance counselors. At last night’s Teaching & Learning Committee meeting, we recommended a policy that every student in grades 7-12 will meet with their guidance counselor at least once each year to evaluate their plan, revise it, and map out steps along the way for them to succeed at it.
