🎉📚 Meet the Staff at Manchester Community College Learning Commons! 📚🎉
Hey MCC students! We’re excited to introduce a brand-new series where we’ll be highlighting the amazing individuals who make our learning commons space a great place to learn, hang out, and find support. Over the coming weeks, you’ll get to know the faces behind the desks, each dedicated to helping you succeed.
Here’s a sneak peek at who you’ll meet:
1. Katie Hamilton - Our visionary Library Director & Librarian who oversees everything library-related, helps dive deeper into your research and ensures we’re always improving your library experience.
2. Kristen Lindsay - The creative Instruction & Outreach Librarian who’s here to guide you through research, make sure you’re connected to resources you need, and to plan fun events and activities in the library.
3. Hillary Rodriguez - The friendly Library Assistant who’s always ready to help you connect to resources, find your next read or assist with any questions you might have.
4. Melissa Olson - Our dedicated and helpful Accessibility Coordinator working hard to ensure that everyone, despite diagnoses, has what they need to succeed and that MCC, its classes and resources are accessible.
5. Kristen Butterfield-Ferrell - The caring and helpful Student Support Counselor who’s here to offer guidance, support, and encouragement throughout your academic journey.
6. Maria Como - The warm and welcoming Advising Secretary, who coordinates and schedules tutoring, testing and advising appointments.
7. Lee Kenyon – The accommodating Educational Technology Specialist to assist and support you with all your Canvas and online Educational software needs.
Each post will dive into their roles, share fun personal tidbits, and offer insight into how they can help you make the most of our MCC’s services. We can’t wait for you to get to know them better!
Stay tuned and let us know if you have any questions or just want to say hello. Feel free to approach any of our staff anytime – we’re here to support you!

Come hear stories in time for Halloween about ghosts, witches, vampires, lake-dwelling monsters, cannibalistic ice giants, and more. The ideas of spirits are not merely sensational, but often grounded in people's understanding of the world.
With Professor Kim Kulesza, an anthropologist of religion and magic (and a descendant of two executed "witches" of the Salem Witch Trials).
In 1976, Science Magazine published an article positing that the visions described by afflicted girls during the Salem Witch Trials were caused by a hallucinogenic fungus. Experts debunked this claim, but it still went viral & some still believe it today.
Presenter Margo Burns (a descendant of Rebecca Nurse who was hanged in Salem in 1692 on the charge of witchcraft) will unpack how this explanation was born and cemented in the public imagination.
Today is National Mental Health Day! Join us at 1pm for In Our Own Voice to hear from a presenter with lived experience.
