My heart aches as I pray for for the beautiful island of Maui + it’s community. This heart shaped Hawaiian island has been my go to “special place” to practice “Malama” - “to care, to attend, to preserve , to protect” (to rejuvenate mind, body & soul) consecutively since 2017. My daughter + I just returned from our annual trip late this Monday evening, missing this devastating tragedy only by just a few hours. We are eternally grateful for the afternoon we spent in Lahaina and to have
returned home safely.

Recently, I brought on another esthetician to help accommodate the tanning business so I can focus solely on Skincare. Rachel is a local mom, a health nut (+ good friend of mine) also wanting to get back into her craft after taking time off from her career to raise her boys. Rachel offers organic spray tanning every Thursday, and is also available for house calls. Her vibrant energy + free spirit will make you feel so welcomed + comfortable! Where does the name P50 come from?
👉🏻 The “P” in P50 refers to the product’s peeling action, which helps to exfoliate the skin. The “50”in P50 refers to the two epidermal cycles that are necessary to achieve optical efficiency of the product. Each cycle takes around 25 days, so it takes approximately 50 days to see the full benefits of using lotion P50.

What is the proper way to apply Lotion P50?
👉🏻 the best way to apply lotion P50 is to press it into the skin in an upward direction starting at the décolleté & working your way up the neck + face. Patting lotion P50 into the skin w/ a cotton round allows for best absorption into the skin + gently exfoliates while enriching the natural moisturizing factor into the skin. Rubbing lotion P50 into the skin creates abrasive exfoliation + reduces the true benefits of lotion P50.

Why does P50 smell so strong?
👉🏻 the ingredient that gives lotion P50 it’s characteristic smell is apple cider vinegar. Adding fragrances have a tendency to alter the results of product formulas & can bring many downsides, such as irritation, allergies, +inflammation. This is why BR products are created with pure & raw ingredients in very concentrated levels with no alterations to their natural smell.

Can P50 be used with retinol, retinoid or any other vitamin A derivative & can it replace their use?
👉🏻 It is not advised to use lotion P50 in conjunction with a prescribed retinoid. If you are using an over the counter retinol, there is an exception if there is no sensitivity. If this is the case, it would be best incorporate lotion, P50 W or lotion P50PIGM 400 since these are the gentler formulations. Lotion P50 does not replace the use of retinol, it keeps the skin in a constant state of exfoliation, so, if applied consistently there should be no need for a retinol/retinoid use.

It's not uncommon to be intimidated by facial oils. It's also easy to worry about blemishes, heaviness & congestion when we're all used to a squeaky clean ideal of skin. Facial oils are an easy way to deeply condition, nourish and hydrate the skin, it's just a matter of choosing the right oil for your skin type. I love to add a few drops of oil to my moisturiser to boost the lipid profile and enrich the formula during the colder months or when I feel that my skin needs an extra boost. I also apply them neat over my serums when I'm travelling or feeling a little dry.

In the winter, I like to tweak my skincare routine so that it’s aligned w/the seasonal shifts by adding in nourishing, hydrating ingredients to keep my skin dewy even when the temps drop.
A few tips for dry winter skin:
❄️ HYDRATE Exposure to winds & indoor heating robs the skin of moisture & strips it of natural oil. Look for nourishing ingredients to add moisture back into the skin and restore healthy barrier function. Think hyaluranic acid,squalane,ceramides +oils to help lock in moisture for plump, supple skin.Swap out your gel/foaming cleanser for a cleansing balm/oil or milk.

❄️EXFOLIATE, GENTLY The skin barrier function slows down in the winter, which can cause an accumulation of cells past their use-by-date to build up on the skins surface, leading to dry,flaky skin. Look for products containing lactic, glycolic or polyhydroxy acid.

❄️INCORPORATE AN OIL I love a face oil in the winter,they’re such a luxurious way to feed and nourish the skin. It’s no secret my favorite facial oil is from SAINT JANE]. Take a few moments to massage the product into the skin encouraging the fatty acids, vitamins + antioxidants to work their magic. Oils are suitable for all skin types ( yes, even oily ) & can help to both lock in hydration and prevent moisture loss.

❄️LOOK AFTER YOUR LIPS
Lips become notoriously dry + chapped in the winter. Keep this at bay by gently exfoliating your lips w a lip scrub and apply a lip mask or heavy lip balm overnight.

❄️BODY CARE As tempting as it can be to take long hot showers in the winter, this can strip the skin of moisture, so keep it brief & temp tepid.Swap your body wash for a shower or bath oil, apply a rich body crème/oil straight after getting out, whilst your skin is still slightly damp to lock in hydration.

❄️SPF Don’t be fooled by cloudy, overcast days, the sun is still just as damaging. Apply a broad spectrum SPF every day, no matter the weather to prevent unnecessary damage.
