I think the magic of Rotary is in our membership. One of the most rewarding aspects of being a Rotary member is the sense of belonging to a global community. It's the feeling of knowing you're connect to other people dedicated to making a difference.

Rotary gives you the opportunity to:
1️⃣ Expand your network with like-minded leaders
2️⃣ Develop your professional skills through meaningful service
3️⃣ Make lasting friendships that enrich your life

August is Membership and New Club Development Month. I encourage you to invite a friend, a colleague, or someone new in your community to discover the magic of Rotary for themselves💛

We are saddened to share the passing of John Clark McCall, Jr, Strand house organist and cherished member of The Strand family. John was a talented musician, a dedicated supporter of the theatre and theatre organ community, and a proud member of the Atlanta Chapter of the American Theatre Organ Society.

John’s music and kind presence brought joy to many, and he will be profoundly missed by all of us at The Strand and by his community. As we reflect on the joy he brought into our lives through his music and friendship, we also acknowledge the tremendous loss of a valuable voice in our community.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by McKoon Funeral Home in Newnan, GA.

Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing John.

A longtime Rotary Club of Marietta Rotarian and good friend

Some of you might have known Jack. His wife, Ann McConnell, graduated from MHS in 1951. He was a Cobb County native.

Obituary for Jack William Corn

Jack Corn, 94, passed away on August 19 th . He was a Cobb County native who grew up in the Fair Oaks community off Atlanta Rd and graduated from Osborne High School. Jack developed
a strong work ethic as a young child having several jobs including delivering the Marietta Daily Journal, working at Rogers Store in Smyrna, and was hired at 9 years old to be a “chicken toter”
at the Sears Farmers Market on Ponce de Leon Ave. He liked to tell his kids and grandkids that he was financially independent at 8 years old. Jack attended North Georgia College on an
ROTC scholarship before transferring to the University of Georgia where he worked his way through school helping his father in the egg business and “playing a little poker.” He graduated
in 1953 and soon thereafter began active duty at Pope AFB in Fayetteville, NC. Jack married Ann McConnell in 1955, who was a girl from back home, and they recently got to celebrate their
69 th wedding anniversary.

After his service in the Air Force Jack spent a few years running his family egg business with his brother Denver but they soon found another opportunity which would change the direction of his
life. In 1956 they became Quaker State Oil distributors and founded their company Corn Brothers, Inc. The business thrived and they became the largest independent Quaker State distributor until 1974 when they sold their business to Quaker State Corp. Jack continued to run the company until he retired in 1986. His retirement didn’t last long as he was called out of retirement 2 years later and asked to be Quaker State’s next CEO. He took the new opportunity
and moved to Oil City, PA where he and Ann lived for 5 years before retiring again in 1993.

During retirement, Jack enjoyed many rounds of golf with friends and spending winters in Cocoa Beach, FL.
Although Jack had quite the business career, the most important thing in life to him was his family. His face would light up when talking about his 6 grandchildren and his 5 great-
grandchildren. He was a selfless individual and everything he did was for the benefit of others.

Jack was a devoted Christian and always knew God was in control of his life. He “walked the walk” and was an incredible role model for those who knew him.

Jack is survived by his wife Ann, his 3 children: Dana Crissey (Mark), Bill Corn (Treville), Beth Scott (David.) His grandchildren: Jaclyn Wood (Zack), Stephanie George (Noah), Jackson Corn, Marilyn Lester (Lamar), and Mary Beth Fahsel (Michael). He is pre-deceased by his siblings Denver Corn, Hazel Wakefield, Ruth Daws, and his granddaughter Taylor Scott.

A celebration of life will be on August 30 th at 11:00 AM at Marietta Community Church with a reception following. Arrangements by Mayes Ward Funeral Home in Marietta.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Taylor Ann Scott Foundation (100% of proceeds benefits Cancer Research Institute), Marietta Community Church or Calvary Children’s Home.
