The Marietta College Education Department recently completed our Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) visit. CAEP is our national accreditor which reviews our program to ensure we meet 5 specific standards that represent a quality program.
This is a quote from an email Dr. Drugovich sent about our visit:
Also, please join me in congratulating the Education Department. On Wednesday I heard the preliminary report on the reaccreditation review that has now been completed for the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP.) Not only does it appear that we have met every standard for reaccreditation, but I have rarely heard such a glowing “visit” team report as the result of an accreditation review.
This independent review gives us the perfect opportunity to recognize the transformative experience our Education students are having at Marietta. Though it will be months before the final report is issued by CAEP, I want to congratulate all of the individuals who both deliver such a high-quality program and who did the additional, essential work to prepare for this review:
• Tanya Judd, Dean of our Education Department
• Dottie Erb
• Sarah Jacobs
• Andrew Smith
• Jane Eakle
• Amanda Rider
• Stephanie Craig
• Brian Rider
• Nicole Whitaker
• Michelle Elia
• Raven Nicole Bowser Cromwell
• Stephanie Davison
• Deb Keifer
• Megan Miller
• Amanda Slone
• Erika Smith
• Christine Thornton
• Bill Clark
• Heidi Terry
• Chris Scheppner
Finally, congratulations to all of our Education students for making this program ever stronger through your commitment to future learners.
It is yet another great day to be a Pioneer.
Best,
President Drugovich
So proud of Colin Champagne (freshman, AYA Social Studies) for being one of the leaders of the effort to help the community prepare for the flood. We have amazing students!!
MC students poised to help local businesses during flood recovery One of the first things Colin Campagne ’27 did Thursday morning was to walk through downtown Marietta to check on the rising water levels and ask people at local businesses if they needed help shoring up their storefronts.
Not only is she an amazing special education teacher but she is impacting the lives of kids through her tireless work at the Ely-Chapman Education Foundation. We are proud of you Abby!

Very proud of Tyler Bates! Keep impacting lives in the classroom and on the court!
We want to thank those of you who attended our feedback session tonight and those that have shared with us on the Padlet. We are more popular than we expected-we had about 150 people show up that were not part of our program! :) We took down the links to the Padlet and Zoom and the email address since we were getting hit by spam and bots (and who knows what else!).
If you are a 2019-2023 grad and are still interested or willing to participate in the Padlet, we will keep it open for 2 weeks. At that time we will do the drawing for the "door prizes" for those who participated. Tanya Judd messaged many of you here on Facebook with the links. She will email them out to the email we have on record to you again. Feel free to reach out to her on Messenger or text as well.
Thank you!
Five Marietta College students — Maria Cipro, Paisley Holbrook, Kate Brady, Colin Campagne, and Courtney Stewart — attended the Ohio Student Government Summit in Akron over the weekend. Ohio Student Government Summit aims to bring student governments together from across the state of Ohio. It provides opportunities for student governments to learn and grow from one another, network, and share ideas with campuses similar to them.
On Wednesday, Feb. 21st. Dr. Nicole Whitaker, Jason Nulton, and Nathan Reich accompanied a group of Marietta College Education Department teacher candidates, most of whom are Teacher Leadership Certificate scholars from the McDonough Center for Leadership & Business at Marietta College, on a trip to the Ohio Statehouse. These students got an opportunity to talk to legislators and some top aides about the impact that the grade band changes (from preK-5, 4-9, and 7-12 to a wider band of preK-8 and 6-12) would have on student learning and on the teacher shortage. The teacher candidates will well prepared with talking points about their concerns and really got an opportunity to see an important aspect of being a teacher-being an advocate for what is best for P-12 students. We are incredibly proud of these teacher candidates, and grateful for the faculty and staff who made this journey possible!
