An Evening with Michael Hill
Join Marietta College and Campus Martius Museum as we host Michael Hill, freelance author and historical researcher, for a conversation about his work with David McCullough on the recent New York Times best-seller, “The Pioneers.” The event will be held Monday, November 7th, 7:00pm, at the Alma McDonough Auditorium. McCoy Professor of History Matt Young will interview Hill about the historical research he and David McCullough conducted in Marietta, as well as projects the two collaborated on over the course of their research partnership of nearly 40 years.
Hill has assisted many other noted authors, such as historian Jon Meacham, the late Senator John McCain, and Caroline Kennedy. He won an Emmy as co-producer of Ken Burns’ PBS series on the Civil War and served as a consultant for the HBO miniseries “John Adams.” A graduate of the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, he served as a press assistant to Vice President Walter F. Mondale before starting his career as a writer and historical researcher.
Hill is the author of "Elihu Washburne: The Diary and Letters of America's Minister to France During the Siege and Commune of Paris" and "War Poet: The Life of Alan Seeger and His Rendezvous With Death," His latest book, “Funny Business: The Legendary Life and Political Satire of Art Buchwald,” was published this past June by Random House.
