**Walton High School announces new
Co-Director of Percussion**
The Walton High School Band is excited to welcome Sean Phillips as the new Co-Director of Percussion. Sean will work with Colin Brewer as an instructor with the Marching Raider Band and will help guide all marching activities.
Sean Phillips is a veteran high school percussion instructor and adjudicator who currently resides in Woodstock, Georgia. After moving from Tampa, Florida in 2022, he served as a percussion instructor at Lassiter High and Roswell High and was the Percussion Director at Etowah High in 2023-24.
Sean hails from central Florida where he was a pillar in the marching arts activities. He was the very first Drum Captain of the University of South Florida "Herd of Thunder" Marching Band and was the Drum Captain while he marched in the Tampa Bay Thunder and Kiwanis Kavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps.
He was previously the Percussion Director of the Bay Area Percussion Ensemble; a WGI Independent Class A finalist and was the Percussion Director of Wiregrass Ranch High School during their 2019 4A FMBC state championship season. Sean was also the Percussion Director at numerous high schools throughout Tampa, where his ensembles won countless ‘Best Percussion’ awards and top honors at FMBC, FFCC and WGI contests.
Sean also proudly serves as a percussion adjudicator. His experience largely consists of various FMBC marching band competitions and FFCC indoor percussion competitions. He served on the panels for FMBC and GCGPC Championships.
As creator of the “Teaching that STICKS” clinic, and as a mentor for the FFCC percussion circuit, Sean has helped in the development of high school percussion instructors and student leaders throughout Florida.
Sean is a proud husband and father. Marla, his wife, is an 8th grade Language Arts teacher at Dickerson Middle where their daughter Stella is entering 8th grade. He is a graduate of the University of South Florida and is currently an Internal Communications Specialist for Tampa Electric.

The creative industries in Georgia represent a combined $37 billion in revenue and $62.5 billion in total economic impact.
