Our bodies contain what is known as the Endocannabinoid System. Discovered in 1992, the ECS is a molecular signaling system tasked with maintaining a stable internal environment in response to fluctuations in the external environment. In other words, the ECS plays a significant role in maintaining homeostasis, or balance, throughout the body. When an imbalance is detected, endocannabinoids are synthesized within and interact with CB1 or CB2 receptors to restore balance. When you have to deal with chronic pain due to injury or other disorders, the body is continually dispatching groups of immune cells to the affected area in an effort to knock out pathogens that may be causing harm. This is what the actual inflammation is. Over long periods of time, it becomes tough to deal with the daily discomfort of the body trying in vain to repair itself. It’s a common question that people are curious about. Definitive answers are limited due to the incredible amount of misinformation that is out there. I came across a study that concluded that a serving of 20,000mg ingested all at once would have toxic (NOT deadly) effects.
