In the upper room, we get a window into Christ's heart. -Thomas Groelsema
Join us on Sunday evenings as we began a new sermon series titled "Upper Room." Tom Groelsema's sermon "Love on Display" on John 13:1-17 is now available at https://christcovenant.org/.
Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Philippians 2:5-8
O the deep, deep love of Jesus! Vast, unmeasured, boundless, free; rolling as a mighty ocean in its fullness over me. Underneath me, all around me, is the current of thy love; leading onward, leading homeward, to thy glorious rest above.
O the deep, deep love of Jesus!
Spread his praise from shore to shore; how he loveth, ever loveth, changeth never, nevermore; how he watches o'er his loved ones, died to call them all his own; how for them he intercedeth, watcheth o'er them from the throne.
O the deep, deep love of Jesus! Love of ev'ry love the best: 'tis an ocean vast of blessing, 'tis a haven sweet of rest. O the deep, deep love of Jesus! 'Tis a heav'n of heav'ns to me; and it lifts me up to glory, for it lifts me up to thee.
Text: Samuel Trevor Francis, 1834-1925; Music: EBENEZER, Thomas John Williams, 1890

It seems that God is less concerned that saints figure out how to change a godless empire than He is concerned that Christians not be conformed to the godless empire in which they live. -Kevin DeYoung

There is an unholy trinity at work in the world. It's not an exaggeration, that's exactly what we are taught in this chapter (Revelation 13). And this unholy trinity wants you to fall for all of its tricks. Remember, the powers of darkness are not creative, they're copycats. Like someone online who's cynical and pugnacious and they build their brand by distorting or tearing down other people or perverting what others have done, the devil has no currency of his own. There is no diabolical currency. Well, there is, but he only deals in counterfeits. He's a liar. He's a deceiver. -Kevin DeYoung
