Our purpose is to divert waste from reaching landfills, reduce costly disposal fees for our city and preserve our environment.

•Limited to 6 bags for residents & 12 bags for businesses
• McAllen Public Works crews will provide bags & shovels but please bring your own shovel for faster service

McAllen Public Utility offices will close but Emergency operations continue 24/7 by calling 956-681-1717.


Trash pick-up will run regular schedule. The City of McAllen Recycling Center will be closed Friday and open Saturday from 8 am to 12 pm
McAllen Public Library branches will be closed from Friday, March 29th to Sunday, March 31st
Normal hours will resume Monday, April 1, 2024

Did you know that St. Paul Lutheran School and Early Learning Center is one of only 5 schools in McAllen to receive a Grant from the City of McAllen Recycling Center? We received blue bins for every room on campus and a large mixed-recycles bin outside. We are blessed to help preserve God's creation by recycling! Our 3rd-grade class is serving as our Recycling Champions by emptying bins each week. Our city diverts more waste from reaching landfills each year than any other city in the Rio Grande Valley. Our sustainable practices not only take part in preserving our environment but also help reducing waste disposal fees for our city each year.
