Corporal Jose Luis ‘Speedy’ Espericueta, Jr. was an honorable man of many titles. He was a loving husband and father, a beloved son and brother, and a distinguished friend and officer at the City of Mission police department. At work, he enjoyed teaching rookies, mentoring colleagues, and serving his community. At home, he enjoyed spending time with his family, BBQing, and emphatically cheering on the Dallas Cowboys.
On Thursday, June 20, 2019, Speedy was killed in the line of duty while protecting his community in Mission, TX.
As a result of this tragic event, the Espericueta family started the Speedy Memorial Foundation to honor the memory of their loved one. The Foundation, built upon the mantra: Honor, Integrity, Service, will provide the children of Law Enforcement Officers with scholarships for higher educational attainment.
