Lady is a familiar face here at UrgentVet! This time, she visited us to get ready for a big move with her family. Since Lady isn’t a fan of long car rides, we prescribed some medication to help her relax and feel more comfortable during her upcoming adventure.

We’re here to support Lady and her dad every step of the way — from check-ups to cross-country travels!

Meet Toby, who came to see us after getting his leg caught in a door. Poor guy! 😢 We made sure he went home with pain medication and the comfort he needed.

When we followed up with his dad, we were thrilled to hear that Toby is doing well and back to his usual self. That’s the kind of news we love to hear!

At UrgentVet, we’re here to help pets bounce back quickly, so they can get back to being themselves. 🐾

09/02/2024

Meet Remy! She came to see us recently for an allergic reaction, and we were able to help her feel better with a steroid and Benadryl injection. 💉

If your pet isn’t feeling their best this Labor Day, don’t wait — UrgentVet is open from 12 pm to 8 pm today. We’re here to provide quick, compassionate care when it’s needed most.

Congrats to Queso, our recent visitor who took home the "Best Hair" award during his appointment! 🏆

Queso came in limping, but like many pets, he perked right up once he arrived. We’re glad he was feeling a bit better, but we still provided the care and medication needed to manage his pain.

At UrgentVet, we’re always here to make sure your pet gets the care they need — and maybe a little recognition along the way.

Charlie, the adventurous Miniature Schnauzer, had quite the dramatic day! He decided to take on the garbage truck in a high-speed chase and ended up with a broken nail from his daring dash. We sedated him, carefully removed the broken nail, and gave his paw a proper bandage. This little guy is as brave as they come! 🦸‍♂️

If your pet ever finds themselves in a bit of a pickle, we're here to help them get back on their paws.

Pet Tip Friday!
Is it okay to let my cat out for the evening? At UrgentVet, we say no, and here’s why:
Disappearance – Cats can go missing.
Hit by a car – Night driving makes it harder to see cats.
Predators – Many animals come out at night, and your cat could become prey.
Illness & disease – Cats can come into contact with sick animals.
Toxic ingestion – Outdoor cats may encounter poison or other animals that have ingested poison.
Animal cruelty – Roaming cats may fall victim to abuse.
If you suspect your cat has encountered any of these dangers while outdoors, come see us. We have the diagnostic tools to help unravel the mystery of what’s happened, so we can get them on the road to recovery. We’re here weekdays from 3 PM to 11 PM and weekends from 10 AM to 8 PM.

Rio came to see us for some tummy trouble. After performing a few tests and giving him some in-clinic treatment, he got a Sani cut too. He was such a trooper, and his tongue stayed out the whole time, making us all smile! 😛

Bailey the goldendoodle had a little too much curiosity and got into her human mom's thyroid tablets—90 of them! 😲 This could have been very dangerous, so we quickly induced vomiting to prevent any serious harm.

It's important to keep medications out of reach of pets, as even a small amount can be toxic. If your pet ever gets into something they shouldn’t, UrgentVet is here to help when your pet can’t wait to feel better.

08/27/2024

Did you know grapes can be toxic for dogs? Stella, a sweet Pomeranian, found this out the hard way. Thankfully, her pet parents acted fast and brought her to UrgentVet. We induced vomiting to safely get the grape out and kept her comfortable afterward. 💙

If your pet eats something they shouldn’t, quick action is key. We’re here to help! 🩺

Meet Bella! Bella was brought into us for limping. Thankfully her leg was normal on the doctor's examination, so we sent her home with a medication for inflammation and discomfort. We hope you made a full recovery, Bella! 😍🐾🐶❤

What is UrgentVet? Think of us like urgent care for pets. 🐾

In human healthcare, you see your regular doctor for wellness visits and planned procedures, and you go to the ER when it’s life-threatening. For everything in between, you visit urgent care.

The same applies to veterinary care! Pets visit their regular vet for checkups and vaccinations, and the emergency vet for serious, life-threatening issues. We’re here for everything in between—like cuts, bites, itching, diarrhea, vomiting, limping, scooting, and more.

Save your spot online or just walk in. We’re open weekdays 3 PM to 11 PM and weekends 10 AM to 8 PM.

Did you know certain flowers are toxic to cats? 💐

While they may look beautiful and smell wonderful, some flowers can be dangerous to our feline friends. If you love having flowers at home or your cat explores the garden, be sure to choose “cat-safe” options like Roses, Sunflowers, Zinnias, and Marigolds. 🌸

At UrgentVet, we believe your pet’s emotional well-being is a crucial part of their recovery. We go the extra mile to ensure your furry family member feels supported while they’re with us.

08/17/2024

With the heat still in full swing, remember that our furry friends feel it too! Walking your dog in hot weather can lead to heatstroke and other injuries. Here's why: Concrete and asphalt retain heat, making it much hotter for your pet, and these surfaces can burn their paw pads. When it’s above 80-85 degrees, it’s best to walk your dog in the early morning or at dusk. If that’s not possible, keep walks short and stay on the grass. Always provide plenty of water and watch for signs of heatstroke, such as excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, and confusion. If you notice any of these, bring your pet to us right away.

08/16/2024

From minor injuries to sudden illnesses, UrgentVet has you covered. Open outside normal hours and on holidays! 🐾🩺

🐾 Meet Bruno! 🐾

Bruno visited us at UrgentVet McKinney with some facial swelling, and after a thorough nose-to-tail exam, Dr. R discovered he had been bitten by a snake! 🐍😮

Despite his ordeal, Bruno was super sweet during his exam and treatments. We're thrilled to hear from his family that he was back to his happy, normal self the very next day. 🐶💖

Snakes are out and about this time of year, so let's keep our furry friends away from their hangouts! 🐍

Remember, even the bravest pups don't need to audition for a snake charmer's gig. Stick to the beaten path and keep those curious noses out of the tall grass! 🐶😂

08/03/2024

🐾 Meet Bunny! 🐾

This sweet, deaf little Frenchie visited us at UrgentVet McKinney after a playful encounter with a bug led to some swelling around her eyes. Despite her discomfort, Bunny's charming personality shone through! 🐶💕

Bunny was too busy munching on her favorite treats to pose for her picture, but we were so impressed by her incredible sign language commands. She truly is a special pup! 🥰🐾 She was super brave for her exam and left with medication instructions to stop the allergic reaction. We wish her a speedy recovery!
