BEGINNING AUGUST 1, 2024, the requirements to import a dog into the USA are becoming stricter, including any dogs coming/returning from Mexico or Canada. This means increased time and costs for Health Certificates/Forms. Please make sure and investigate and allow enough time for processing if you plan on traveling with your pet into Mexico, Canada, or other countries. Below is a link for more information.
From August 1, 2024, Onward: What Your Dog Needs to Enter the United States | Importation | CDC Starting on August 1, 2024, dogs entering or returning to the United States must meet new, specific requirements depending on where they have been in the 6 months before entering the U.S. and where they received their rabies vaccines (if required).
Happy Father's Day to all the dads of 4 and 2 legged kiddos!!!

Remember Truce? Sheās been in the rescue for 8 weeks now. No more nasty Heartworms trying to kill her, those have been taken care of. Truce has made huge strides in her socialization, now sharing a yard with large and small dogs alike. We are so proud of her progress. She is a young German Shepherd whose ears never stood up, but sheās got all the GSD pizazz anyways š¤£. She has truly come into her own at the Sanctuary. Sheās an angel in her den, loves mealtime, likes a benebone to work on overnight and is always thrilled and ready to take on whatever the day may bring when the morning comes. We love having her here, but sheās ready and waiting to join her forever family. Could you please share to find this girl a home? GSDās are in high need at every shelter that surrounds us, but we have to prioritize our adoptions here at DRR in order to help more kiddos like Truce.

As we look on at Glitz in her new forever life I want to take a moment to let everyone know that her new dad has no social media whatsoever. How did he find out about her?
A friend who had the post shared to them and they told him you need to look at and apply for this dog.
The emphasis to everyone is the power of the share button reaches far beyond people that even have a Facebook account. The power of the share is simply put the most powerful yet the most simple tool that is sitting right at the tip of your finger, and Glitz is a prime example of that. š

****Due to the media coverage of increases in upper respiratory diseases in certain areas of the nation, we'd like to share recent information with our owners. It is currently unknown what is causing the increase in cases, but studies are being done to identify the cause. CIRD, Canine Infectious Respiratory Disease (collectively known as kennel cough), has numerous viral and bacterial causes that may cause disease that ranges from mild sneezing/coughing to pneumonia needing hospitalization, and in rare cases even death. Typically the young, old, and immunocompromised can be the hardest hit. The testing for these diseases have their pros and cons, and specialists and the state departments are studying the causes of these increases.
At this stage, we recommend owners remain aware and cautious, but not worried or anxious. Focus on making sure your pet is up to date on vaccinations such as Bordetella, Parainfluenza, and Influenza.
Minimizing socialization with groups of unknown dogs will also limit your pet's exposure. We currently are still seeing usual numbers in this area of typical CIRD, but as everyone knows from the Influenza outbreak in late 2022/2023 in this area that can change quickly. The following links provide more information on symptoms, testing, and precautions to take for your pets.

Have you ever thought you would like to adopt a Bordeaux? you don't have experience with the breed, they are large dogs and you have a little bit of concern of the unknown.
We have rescued and successfully placed hundreds, and hundreds, and hundreds of Dogue De Bordeaux's they are our breed, they are a breed we ahve great love and affection for. Some of them are very easy and what we call typical Bordeaux tendencies, which is a lazy, easy to own low exercise large loving wonderful dog. We do see exceptions to this in the breed, and always point out the facts about each dog we are looking to place.
This girl right here is Ivy, she was rescued all the way from California abandoned in her yard in the high desert with Obi. Ricky and Terrie Barnes drove all the way out there to retrieve them and bring them to us to find their forever home. Obi has found his and moved along, Ivy has not.
Let's talk about Ivy, if you have an inkling of wanting to try this breed, I simply cannot recommend a dog more than I would her. She is PERFECT, she is low key, she is sweet, she is gentle, she is lovely and she is exactly what anyone thinking they would like to adopt a Bordeaux for the first time should apply for. I assure you that you will be hooked for life. Ivy is perfect with all dogs, with all people and for goodness sake she was living in that yard out there in the desert with her friend (A rooster) he was rescued too.
Ivy would love to leave, she would love to have her turn at a life filled with comfort and love for all the rest of her days but we can't find that without you. Nobody has ever applied for Ivy, nobody...and that is a damn shame and why I'm here.
Would you please, please, please share Ivy, she is such a deserving girl that is being overlooked.

Guess what time it is?
Time to hit the share button again. Doris is still waiting for her forever home but it still hasnāt appeared. Doris doesnāt like other dogs, she doesnāt want to live with other dogs, she can live with cats they donāt bother her. She doesnāt hear great but sheās very healthy, sheās playful and she wants nothing more in life than companionship and toys. She would be very happy to have her person with just like this with her in a chair, thatās it nothing else just some simple needs. A wonderful companion for a senior, problem is we have to find them and we canāt find them without your help. How can you help?
Just click that little button down there š that says share. Thatās it nothing else needed, if we get lucky her person will see
it.
