American moonshiners were in desperate need of avoiding cops during the Prohibition era (1920-1933), and thus, these heifer-heels were born. They’d use these puppies to look like cows when traipsing through fields or across other terrain that might leave footprints for the authorities to track.

LOUIS XIII 
Unlike wine, Louis XIII does not need to be swirled in order to open up the liquid. The notes are simply bursting out from the moment the eau de vie emerge from the decanter.

As you draw your nose closer the complexity begins to reveal itself. The sweet scents that flood your senses from a distance make way for something much stronger. There is the unmistakable hint of saffron and wood bark.

That complexity comes from the blend of different aged eau de vie. The younger ones offer sweeter notes such as candied fruits while the older ones are much more sophisticated like cigar box.

Even the tiniest of sips brings all of these flavors together in an explosion on the palate. There is an extraordinary warmth to it, a spice that stays with you long after the glass has been left behind. In fact, the flavors continue to develop for over an hour with the sweetness returning for a grand finale in the form of grape and melon.

The History of the Sidecar:

The Sidecar was created towards the end of the First World War. There are many conspiracy theories as to the origins of this drink, but there are two stories that seem to be quoted most often.

The French like to take the credit, believing that the drink was made in Harry’s New York bar. The story is, that an American Army Captain would often travel to the bar in the sidecar of his friend’s motorbike. He wanted a drink to warm him up before dinner, and cognac was the immediate suggestion. However, it was not seen as an appropriate drink so early in the evening, and so the bartender mixed some Cointreau and lemon juice with it. So, the sidecar was born.

However, Pat MacGarry, bartender at the Buck’s Club in London, is also often credited with creating the drink. MacGarry is the inventor of the popular, but less well regarded, Buck’s Fizz cocktail. Some say that it came about in the same sort of way, i.e. a friend came to his bar in a sidecar. Others believe that the sidecar is a variation of the Brandy Crusta, which would have been popular at the time.

Those who believe that the drink was created at Harry’s Bar, often state that MacGarry was responsible for bringing the drink from Paris to London. Frank Meier disputes both stories, claiming that he created the drink while working at the Ritz Hotel in Paris.

Today we went to the oldest Rum distillery in the world. We got to pour our own bottle, wax seal it and numbered it. We also got 2 bottles of the best Rum in the world Ron Del Barrilito 5 🌟

An extremely-limited, one of a kind blend of aged rums in “Oloroso” white oak casks for up to 35 years, handmade with the same craftsmanship and tradition that has prevailed in this Puerto Rican brand since 1880.

Rusty Nail cocktail is an old classic that dates back to the 1930's. It blends smoky scotch with sweet Drambuie for a flavor that's surprisingly sweet and easygoing. Even if you don't like scotch or Drambuie much, the combination of the two may actually work for you.
