HEALTHY EATS Friday 😋
CAVA gets 4.9/5
Located at LEGACY WEST - 7501 Windrose Avenue, Suite D170 in Plano.

This could be a new favorite of mine. Went with wife and daughter for lunch. They specialize in Greek/Mediterranean food and it was so GOOD!

You build a custom meal by first picking a base: salad, grain bowl, or pita. They also have a few recommended popular choices with suggested options.

Second you choose up to 3 dips/spreads, pick a protein, add unlimited toppings, and finish off with dressing.

My wife and I chose salad and daughter went for the pita.

For my salad I chose grilled chicken and spicy lamb meatballs, , hummus, tzatziki, roasted red pepper hummus went for all the toppings minus kalamata olives and pita crisps and drenched it in yogurt dill and lemon herb tahini, not sure how healthy with the my choice of added dressing... but it was so good. Rich with flavor, spice, and great texture. They also have a cool online calculator to give you nutritional info. My choices came to around 848 calories, not sure how accurate.

My wife went with a recommended Tahini Caesar. Her opinion of the dish was excellent, very tasty and would definitely recommend.

My daughter is a picky eater and she too gave her pita sandwich a very good.

Great value for quantity of food! Paid $34 for 3, well worth the price.

Dine-in was allowed and atmosphere is open, modern, and clean. Service was very good but there was practically no one seated as we had a late 3PM lunch.

The only negative was I got yelled at by the manager for taking pictures of the kitchen serving area and was told I needed to get permission from their marketing department for pictures. LOL. Ok. Yes, I'll delete those from my phone.

For CAVA would definitely return and will be a new go-to for me and our family. High quality and tasty selection of options. Great value for the quantity of food. Give them a try!

HEALTHY EATS Friday 😋

Vitality Bowls gets 3.75/5

5105 Eldorado Parkway, Suite 160, Frisco, Went with wife today and wanted to try Vitality Bowls. They're a franchise specializing in Acai bowls topped with superfoods, smoothies, juices, paninis, soups, and salads.
My wife and I split and shared the Green Bowl and Sirloin Panini.

The Green Bowl was served with a BASE mix of Graviola fruit, Banana, Strawberries, Kale, Spinach, Dates, Organic Spirulina, and Almond Milk and TOPPED with Organic Granola, Sliced Banana, Kiwi, Organic H**p Seeds, Honey. Opinion of bowl was very good. Sweet with good texture, and high quality. We opted for the large and would have been sufficient for one. Expensive at $13.99

The Sirloin Panini was Grass-Fed Sirloin, Mozzarella Cheese, Red Onion, Spinach, and Dijon on wheat. The Panini was average. My wife thought it had too much onion and I thought it was a bit weak with the sirloin. If you bought the sandwich alone it was $7.99 and felt it would have been overpriced. They had a special with the bowl and the panini added-on was $4.99

My wife also got a Poppi (Raspberry Rose) pre-biotic soda in a can. Little bitter and strong for my liking but she liked it. Only 20 calories! Quite expensive for $3.49. I ordered a water and never got it. Service was average. Staff was in the back kitchen the entire time.

Atmosphere of restaurant is clean and modern, located at the highly visible shopping plaza near Best Buy at the southwest corner of El Dorado and the Tollway. Tons of traffic in that area (uggh)

For Vitality Bowls. I'd recommend more as healthy snack or very quick bite to eat type of place. It wouldn't be my first choice for lunch. Quality of bowl was good, panini and service was more or less for price. Wish there were more options for healthy foods in the area.

HEALTHY eats Friday 😋

THAI PAN gets 4.4/5

Located at 1720 N. Central Expressway Ste. 170 in McKinney.

Went solo today and was in the mood for some Thai food. Tai Pan serves traditional Thai cuisine and during normal operation welcomes BYOB.

Dine-in was closed. and took carry-out. Ordered by phone and food was ready when I arrived. I decided to oder a couple dishes and take the leftovers to the family.

I always order my favorite Chicken Pad Thai to compare as a baseline to other Thai restaurants. The dish was served with egg, bean sprouts, egg, chicken, topped with crushed peanuts in a sweet and tangy tamarind sauce.
Quality was good compared to the other Thai restaurants, but I've had better. Texture was good and it was a little bit hotter and spicier than I'm used (3 out of 5 spicy) to for my palette. I like to normally squeeze a splash of lime on top but the lime was completely dry😕. Quantity was good and had enough to take home to the family. They devoured it!

The second dish was the Cashew Chicken Delight. Stir fry with cashew nut, carrot, mushroom, onion, green pepper, baby corn and jasmine rice. The dish was very good and I liked it better than the Pad Thai. Flavorful and plenty of cashews. Again ordered 3 out of 5 spicy and actually the hotness seemed just right mixed with the vegetables.

Atmosphere of restaurant is average, located in a low-key shopping plaza near Olive Garden at the southeast corner of I-75 and University. A very humble setting but the food was very good and reasonable pricing.

For THAI PAN... I'd recommend.. it wouldn't be my first choice for Thai but the food was good and reasonable value for the quantity.. if in the area would pay another visit in the future! @ McKinney Fitness and Nutrition

HEALTHY eats Friday 😋🙂!

We felt like some Greek cuisine and went to Blue Olive Mediterranean Grill located at 2414 W. University Dr., McKinney.

I opted for the gyro plate served with rotisserie broiled gyro, hummus, rice, pita bread, salad, and side of tzatziki sauce.

Opinion of dish was very good. The gyro and hummus were excellent, hummus fresh with olive oil and the pita bread and tzatziki sauce were great. Price was very reasonable at $8.99.

Johan opted for the Chicken Tikka (marinade/curry) Masala and served with rice. (no picture) Opinion of dish was very tasty and would definitely come back.

We weren't allowed to eat-in and took as carry-out. Service was quick and friendly. Atmosphere of restaurant is your typical hole in the wall, tucked away in an older shopping plaza and unpretentious but the food was very good and reasonable pricing.

Overall opinion of Blue Olive was 4.4 out of 5 and would definitely come back.
