Edward’s Story

Because of my injury, I was experiencing great pain and difficulty walking and with balance issues. After a fracture of the shoulder bone, and not being able to move my arm for anything, I have regained most of my strength and range of motion back.

It's National Hiking Day! There's not much better way to get some exercise and enjoy the wonders of nature, boosting your body and your mind at the same time.

Regular exercise improves your health and lengthens your life. But this doesn't mean you have to spend long hours within the walls of a gym or be confined to the sidewalks of your neighborhood. Take a hike instead!

Diabetes - What are the Symptoms?

Today's the day to spread awareness of diabetes. It's estimated that half the adults that have diabetes are undiagnosed!

Symptoms can include excessive urination, constant thirst and hunger, weight loss, vision changes and tiredness. It's a tough fact, but being overweight really increases the chances of having type II diabetes.

So, use this day as a reminder to get yourself tested if you have any risk factors or symptoms of diabetes.

Ailsa’s Story

When I came into Fyzical I had a hard time walking. Even at night when I slept, the pain would wake me up. Now that my therapy is over, I enjoy walking again. I can walk without pain in my knee. When I sleep at night, I no longer wake up with pain. It's been a pleasure working with Fyzical therapy. The people are great.

Have you heard of Thoracic Disc Herniation?

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has led to the discovery that many people, perhaps as many as 15 percent of North Americans, have a thoracic disc herniation.

Seeing a herniated thoracic disc on MRI is often incidental, meaning it shows up when the person has MRI testing for another problem.

Few people with a thoracic disc herniation feel any symptoms or have any problems as a result of this condition. In rare cases when symptoms do arise, the main concern is whether the herniated disc is affecting the spinal cord.

What is Trochanteric Bursitis of the Hip?

A common spot for bursitis is on the side of the hip. Here a large tendon passes over the bony bump (greater trochanter) on the side of the hip. Inflammation in the bursa between the tendon and the greater trochanter is called trochanteric bursitis. Happy discharge day to John! John came to us for aquatic therapy after injuring his leg. He was able to perform his rehab in the water which allowed his to complete exercises that would be too challenging on land otherwise.

It's Motivation Monday! Check out Pattie's story:

In late September 2022, for an unknown reason, I developed an infection in my spine causing fractures. When I was finally able to begin PT in early February 2023, I could barely get in and out of the car. My movements were restricted due to pain and tightness in my lower back. With wonderful therapists and 3x a week of therapy, I am being discharged today. My activities have all returned to normal and I have resumed my normal life thanks to Claire, Kenzie, and Melissa. It would not have been possible without their expertise, care, and compassion.

"I came here wondering if I’d be able to do the thing I love again, like playing gold and helping my kids with their sports. I had a total knee replacement and that is a painful experience. Jose explained in detail what I would be doing for PT, and what we could expect. Evidently, one goal for most patients is to be able to bend the knee to 120 degrees. On my last visit, I bent mine to 135 degrees with no pain. I had also restored the strength in the leg to my pre-surgery level.
During my time here, I worked with Jose half the time and Aubrey the other half. Both were awesome and as pleasant as could be. As a result of my PT experience, I have joined the gym here. This is a great place all around."

"In April 2022 I tore my ACL playing soccer. When I first came to physical therapy I could not walk properly and had a very annoying large brace on my leg. After a few months of exercise I was able to walk and eventually run properly. Then after 9 months I was able to cut and return to playing tennis. After a very long 11 months and lots of therapy I was able to fully return to playing tennis with minimal problems. Now I get to enjoy playing again and finally get to return to my normal self. Thank you for all of the hard work and dedication to help me get better! :)"
