The Impact of Stress on Your Health

Life may be starting to resemble something close to normal, but it doesn’t feel completely normal yet, does it? Maybe you’re worried about returning to work at an office or resuming social routines. It’s safe to say many of us are still feeling stress and anxiety about life in general. However, if you’re feeling like the stress is starting to pile on more than usual, it’s time to deal with the issue before the stress impacts your health.

Long-term stress not only affects your mental health, but it also creates lasting physical effects. Here are a few ways stress might show up in other aspects of your overall health.
- Increased blood pressure - It’s a natural response to a stressful situation. While a short period of high blood pressure is okay, having chronic high blood pressure is one of the main risk factors for heart disease, heart attack and stroke.
- Unhealthy, stress-induced behaviors – Stress can prompt unhealthy behaviors, such as overeating or eating unhealthy foods, alcohol abuse, substance misuse, or lack of physical exercise.
- Poor mental health – stress, anxiety, or depression can lead to unhealthy heart responses like palpitations or inflammation. Over time, these responses can damage the heart and how it functions.

Everyone responds differently to stress and the side effects can be physical or emotional. When you’re ready to release the high-pressure stress valve and protect your health, here are a few ways to do it safely. Remember to consult with your doctor before making any modifications to your diet or exercise routine.
- Music and meditation can lower stress and reduce your cortisol levels, ultimately improving your heart health.
- Daily meditation can reduce your risk of heart attack and stroke, according to a study published in the Journal of the American Heart Association.
- Exercise of any kind can relieve stress, anxiety, and depression. Even 15 minutes a day can improve your physical and mental health.
- Yoga, which combines meditation, breathing exercises and gentle stretching, improves circulation while reducing cortisol levels, heart rate, blood pressure and inflammation.

Stress can have serious effects on your entire body, especially your heart. It’s important to find a safe way to relieve stress, whether it’s through exercise, meditation or enjoying time with family.

And, if you’re still struggling with stress relief, I will be more than happy to discuss how I can be of help, by using hypnosis. Don’t hesitate to ask for help, when you need it. Call to schedule a free consultation. 541-500-7832

There are two kids going to lunch in an elementary school in separate shifts with all of their classmates.
The first kid gets up to the counter with the plate with food separators. The child gets the veggies, apple sauce, main dish that resembles hamberger helper. Then heads off to find a place to sit.
On the way, the kid slips and falls in front of everyone in the class. The food goes everywhere, even on the face and clothes of the child. All of the other kids laugh and point. The child starts to cry, runs out of the room and feels terrible.
The next lunch shift our second kid gets all the food like before, is walking to the table and slips on the spot where the other child fell. The food goes everywhere, even on the face and clothes. The other kids all laugh and point.
Our second child immediately jumps up and takes a bow. The child says "Thank you, Thank you very much, my next show is at 3".
The same thing happens to each kid exactly... yet the meaning is chosen in the brain. It doesn't have a meaning until then.
The event means nothing, the kids laughing means nothing until the child chooses the meaning internally. That internal meaning is set up by a conglomeration of attitudes, values, beliefs and expectations.
Do you understand that thoughts, feelings and judgements are not a given.? You are picking and choosing them based upon many factors.
The need for control.
The need for attention.
The need for connection.
Fear or hope.
Boundary habits.
Past emotional automatic responses.
Assumptions.
All get in the way of noticing that it isn't good or bad, up or down to your mind until you hang a label on it and compare it to expectations that are made up in the first place. Your question has to become, "Is this set of actions, behaviors and comments useful or un-useful to the outcomes?" or "Am I just doing the routine I always do at this level of intimacy or stress and expecting a different result?
Comments that prove a person doesn't know the point include; "Of course I was mad everyone would be". No that isn't true. "You would feel the same way in my position". No that also isn't necessarily true. But you see the dilemma.
A person who only feels good when given sympathy will have a difficult time learning this truth.

Let's learn about Anxiety & hypnosis.

Anxiety is a feeling of stress, nervousness, and paranoia. It can be mild or severe, depending on the person. Symptoms can include a rapid heart rate, sweating, trembling, and difficulty breathing.

Anxiety is often caused by stress. When we're stressed, our body releases hormones like adrenaline that can cause anxiety. Anxiety can also be caused by traumatic events, genetics, or medication side effects.

Until recent years, the only acceptable treatment for anxiety was thought to be the exclusive job of a physician or a licensed mental health worker. Fortunately, that is quickly changing with the emergence of hypnotherapy as a mainstream complementary treatment for anxiety.

Hypnotherapy is a form of psychological treatment that uses Hypnosis to help people change their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Hypnosis is a state of altered consciousness in which you are more focused and receptive to suggestions. During hypnosis, your subconscious mind is more open to new ideas and can be directed to change negative thoughts or habits into positive ones.

- Hypnotherapy works by helping you to access the power of your subconscious mind. The subconscious mind is responsible for controlling all the automatic functions of your body, such as breathing, heart rate and digestion. It also stores all your memories and experiences, including past traumas. The subconscious mind can be used to create positive changes in your life by changing the way you think and feel about yourself.

- Hypnotherapy can help you to overcome a wide range of issues, including anxiety, stress, phobias, eating disorders, addictions, and sleep problems. Hypnotherapy can also be used to improve your performance in exams or sports or to help you lose weight. Hypnosis is a safe and natural way to make positive changes in your life and can be used alongside other forms of treatment, such as counseling or medication.

There are many different ways that people use hypnosis to provide relief for their anxiety. One way is by using hypnosis to help change the subconscious imagination. Hypnosis can help people change the way they imagine things in their subconscious minds. This can help them to feel more relaxed and less anxious.

Another way that hypnosis can be used to relieve anxiety is by helping people to relax. Hypnosis can help people to relax their muscles and calm their minds. This can help to reduce the feelings of anxiety that people experience.

All of these ways that hypnosis can help with anxiety are effective and can provide people with relief from their symptoms. If you are struggling with anxiety, hypnosis may be a good option for you. Talk to a hypnotherapist to learn more about how hypnosis can help you. Hypnosis has helped many people to overcome their anxiety and live happier healthier lives.

If you decide to seek out the help of a hypnotherapist, be sure to ask for their qualifications.

A competent hypnotherapist will have certifications in different methods and will be a member of one or more professional organizations.

To become certified as a hypnotherapist, one will have to complete an accredited program. These programs offer training in both hypnosis and psychotherapy.

Upon completing an accredited program, a therapist will then be certified by the National Hypnotherapy Certification Board (NHCB) or another reputable certification board.

Some therapists may also choose to get certified in specific methods of hypnosis, such as Ericksonian Hypnosis or Clinical Hypnosis.

These certifications can provide assurance that the therapist has been thoroughly trained in a specific method and is competent to use it.

When looking for a hypnotherapist, it is important to find one who is a good fit for you. You should feel comfortable with them and feel that they have your best interests at heart.

It is also important to be aware that hypnotherapy is not a quick fix. It can take time and patience to see results. Trust your therapist and be willing to do the work required for successful treatment.

If you are struggling with anxiety, hypnotherapy may be able to provide relief. Hypnosis allows you to access your subconscious mind and use your imagination to create positive change. If you're looking for an alternative to medication for your anxiety, hypnosis may be a good option for you. Hypnosis is a natural way to treat anxiety and it has been shown to be very effective. Hypnosis works by helping to change the way you imagine things in your subconscious mind. This can help you to cope better with stress and anxiety.

Hypnotherapy can also help you to change any negative thoughts or beliefs that may be contributing to your anxiety. If you are interested in hypnosis for anxiety, be sure to consult a qualified therapist. Hypnotherapy is a safe and effective treatment for anxiety, but it is important to find the right therapist for you. There are many qualified therapists out there who can help you to overcome your anxiety. Hypnotherapy is a process that takes time and patience, so be willing to do the work required for successful treatment. Anxiety can be a debilitating condition, but hypnosis can help you to manage it and live a fuller life.

Are you tired of hurting, feeling pain, and battling with health issues?

If so, you may be an excellent candidate for hypnosis.

The interesting thing is that the body is very powerful.

For example, when we sleep, the body will begin to rejuvenate and heal itself during the deep stages. This is why when a person has insomnia, not being able to reach the deep stage of sleep; his or her body is tired the next day, which then manifests as headaches, joint pain, depression, irritability, and so on.

The benefit of hypnosis is multi-layered in that it can help you sleep better, thus allowing the body to work through health problems.

One of the keys in striving for better health is listening to your body while it is going through this healing process. With hypnosis, you will learn how to listen to suggestions while your body is in a deep relaxed state, providing an optimum environment for the immune system to work more efficiently.

Through positive suggestion and healing imagery, you have the advantage of taking a break from the stress caused by illness. The result is that you feel better, are not as tired, and certain illnesses improve.

Look at migraines, which for most people, can be debilitating. Sadly, millions of people suffer from migraine headaches at one level or another. Rather than pump the body full of chemicals in hopes of getting relief, you can use hypnosis.

With this, you would close your eyes and listen to suggestions immediately at the onset of a migraine. During this type of hypnotic session, you reach a powerful level of relaxation, which in turn lowers the blood pressure.

Since migraines are caused by blood vessels being constricted, when blood pressure is lowered, it is not trying to rush through small vessels. Best of all, hypnosis is an all-natural approach, easy to use and highly effective.

Just as with migraines, hypnosis is very beneficial for tension headaches. Although hypnosis can help in many ways, there are three specific reasons it works for this particular type of headache. First, hypnosis takes you into a deep state of relaxation, which again, helps to lower blood pressure and reduce pain. Second, stress hormones also begin to drop with hypnosis. Third, you will discover that levels of concentration and memory are greatly improved. Just imagine no more tension headaches simply with the use of hypnosis!

Hypnosis can also be helpful for a condition known as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). In the past 10 years, tremendous research has been done on IBS, a condition in which people suffer from constipation and/or diarrhea, along with abdominal problems. Obviously, IBS can be disruptive to live, making work or school difficult. Now imagine that you work with a qualified and licensed hypnotherapist who can routinely provide you with positive suggestions to get relief from IBS. In truth, people who have gone this route for IBS have experienced up to 80% improvement.

Another area where hypnosis has proven to be highly successful is with teeth grinding. The medical term for teeth grinding is Bruxism, something that both children and adults do. In most cases, Bruxism does no harm but when done on a regular basis, it can cause severe damage to the teeth, as well as other problems such as painful jaws and headaches. Bruxism is often the result of anxiety or stress but can also be the result of missing teeth, crooked, teeth, or abnormal bite. The problem is that most people will grind their teeth while asleep. Therefore, hypnosis can break the habit of tensing up the jaw muscle, stopping the pattern that leads to Bruxism. Since hypnosis works with the subconscious mind, it can be used to reeducate the brain, teaching it to relax muscles. With this, you would have less grinding of the teeth and eliminate the other problems.

As you can see, hypnosis can make a huge difference when it comes to health. These examples are just a few but we wanted to show you the variety of areas in which hypnosis can help. The key is to work with a qualified hypnotherapist who understands the disciplines and principles associated with hypnosis. However, self-hypnosis can also be beneficial but it takes time to learn how to perform it properly. Even so, with the positive suggestions of hypnosis, you can overcome many health issues, leaving you with a long, fulfilled life.

Reducing Anxiety and Stress Levels.

Calming Anxiety.

Calm anxiety with breathing and dramatically help you ease your mind, settle your thoughts, and to let go of stress.
The technique known as relaxation breathing, or the 4 – 7 – 8 breathing technique, involves simply breathing in for four seconds, holding the breath for seven seconds, and exhaling for eight seconds.
The purpose of this breathing pattern is to reduce anxiety or to help people get to sleep. There are people who claim that this method helps them get to sleep in a few moments to a minute. Let's take a look at this breathing technique and see why it works.

What is this technique called 4-7-8 breathing?

The 4 – 7 – 8 breathing technique requires a person to focus on taking long, deep breaths, in and out.
Rhythmic breathing is a core part of many meditation practices and it promotes relaxation. It can help with the following:

* Reducing anxiety
* Helping you get to sleep
* Managing cravings and compulsions
* Controlling anger or reducing anger responses.

Method of breathing.

Before starting, adopt a comfortable sitting position. Set your intention for what you would like to release and place the tip of the tongue on the tissue right behind the top front teeth.
To use the four – seven – eight technique, focus on the following breathing pattern:

* Fill the lungs with air, breathing quietly through the nose for four seconds.
* Hold the breath for a count of seven seconds.
* Exhale forcefully through the mouth, pursing the lips and making a "whooshing" sound for eight seconds.
* Repeat the cycle up to four times.

A person may feel lightheaded after doing this for the first few times. Therefore, it is advisable to try this technique when sitting or lying down to prevent dizziness or falls. The total number of sessions that the pattern lasts for is less important than keeping the ratio. A person who cannot hold their breath for very long may try a shorter pattern instead, such as:

1. Breathe in through the nose for 2 seconds.
2. Hold the breath for a count of 3 1/2 seconds.
3. Exhale through your mouth for 4 seconds.

As long as a person maintains the correct ratio they may notice remarkable benefits after several days or weeks of doing 4 – 7 – 8 breathing consistently 1 to 2 times a day. The longer and more frequently a person uses the technique, the more effective it becomes.

How it works and the benefits.

There is a lot of evidence which suggests that the breathing techniques have a positive impact on a person's anxiety and stress levels. For example a 2011 review article in health science Journal identifies some of the potential health benefits of deep breathing techniques particularly word breathing from the diaphragm.
These benefits include:

* Decreased fatigue.
* Reduced anxiety.
* Reduced symptoms of asthma in children and adolescents.
* Better stress management.
* Reduced hypertension.
* Reduced aggressive behavior.
* Improved migraine symptoms.

Studies have shown to suggest that six weeks of practicing this pattern of breathing or any breathing that focuses on controlling breath, movement not only has a positive effect on a person's emotional and psychological state, but also their heart rate variability, which correlates with stress, and also improves cognition and decreases anxiety.
When you hold your breath, you activate your parasympathetic nervous system, which slows your heart rate and causes your body to relax and your mind to slow down. Breathing in deeply and holding your breath increases intra-abdominal pressure. Thereby, stimulating your vagus nerve. The vagus nerve is a powerhouse in the organ system and creates many, many positive changes in your body. The vagus nerve affects the organ systems such as the heart, where it decreases heart rate and vascular tone. It regulates insulin secretion and glucose homeostasis in the liver. It increases gastric juices and stomach acidity. Suppresses inflammation and...in the brain it helps keep anxiety and depression at bay. It opposes the sympathetic response to stress.

Taste information is sent via three cranial nerves one of which is the vagus nerve. The vagus nerve is needed for the gag reflex, swallowing, and coughing. It also decreases vascular tone, lowering blood pressure.

The most common use of 4 – 7 – 8 breathing patterns are for reducing stress and anxiety. With frequent use, it reportedly becomes more effective in helping a person manage their stress levels. This improvement is in contrast to anti-anxiety drugs, which tend to lose some of their effectiveness over time, as the body becomes accustomed to them.
This breathing pattern is easy, quick and very powerful. One can use it at any time, any place and use it periodically throughout the day. Once the benefits unfold in your life, it will help quiet your mind and connect you to your body.
Hopefully you can benefit from this simple practice.

If you find that your Anxiety and/or Stress is beyond what can be helped with this process, I would love to work with you.

The Holiday season is upon us once again and with it comes dreaded stress in many cases.
Did you know that according to a poll conducted by About.com, more than 80% of respondents reported finding the holiday season to be “somewhat” or “very” stressful.

I succeed when YOU succeed. In a study conducted by American Health Magazine, the effectiveness of psychoanalysis, behavioral therapy, and hypnosis was compared.
It was found that:
*
With hypnosis, 93% of people recovered after only six sessions
*
Behavioral therapy worked for 72% after 22 sessions.
*
Psychoanalysis presented a 38% recovery rate for those who underwent 600 sessions.

In 1955, the British Medical Association issued a report stating that it approved of the use of hypnosis as a valuable medical tool. It was also suggested that all physicians and medical students receive fundamental training in its usage. In 1962 the American Psychiatric Association recognized that hypnosis was a viable modality in the realm of psychology.

At Last, Straight Talk about Hypnosis! Your subconscious mind loves lists, so here's a list to make it happy - the six reasons why you should choose Larry Wyrick at Medford Hypnosis & Hypnotherapy to help you succeed.

* REAL LIVE 1-on-1 HYPNOTISM. Unlike some "hypnosis" programs, I won't put headphones on you and leave you listening to a relaxation CD. If you just want to hear some affirmations with soothing music playing in the background, you could stay at home and do that yourself.
* NO "UPSELLING" DURING YOUR APPOINTMENT! I won't spend your valuable appointment time trying to sell you herbal supplements, vitamins, candles, CD programs, certification courses, workshops, etc.
* CUSTOMIZED FOR YOUR INDIVIDUAL CASE. Generic, scripted suggestions ("relax and imagine being in your serene place... now think happy thoughts...") can be OK, but you can get better results with more personalized work.
* FULL-TIME HYPNOTIST. This is all I do, every day. This means I have to consistently get results for clients and referrals. The sad fact is: most "certified hypnotists" dabble with hypnosis as a part-time hobby or "side hustle" at best, and are unwilling to fully commit themselves to doing this work. I assume that clients are serious and committed, so I'd expect the same of the hypnotist!
* DEDICATED PRIVATE OFFICE. Located in the heart of Medfords business district.Your office visit will not be conducted on a couch in a basement or a recliner in someone's living room.
* MY ROLE IS TO HELP YOU ACHIEVE YOUR GOAL. Not to play Amateur Spiritual Advisor or "healer". I will NOT try to convince you that you were an ancient Mayan priestess in a past life! Maybe you were, maybe you weren't. I do not attempt to influence clients with my personal beliefs and interests.
