Meet Mamoon Syed ā21. He just graduated with a degree in aerospace engineering and is preparing to start graduate school this fall. Heās using his time off this summer to learn and gain more experience in his field. Thanks to a reference from Florida Tech Career Services, Mamoon got his foot in the door at Blue Origin, where heās now working as an Advanced Developments Program intern.
āAs an intern at Blue Origin, my job is to aid in the development and analysis of systems that are being developed as baseline reference designs for future missions. My professors at Florida Tech helped prepare me for this experience because they were always willing to take a chance on me. I worked on many projects where a professor wouldāve been well within their rights to say I didnāt have the necessary experience and to come back when I did. But they never did, and because of that, Iām a better engineer. My advice to students seeking internship opportunities would be to jump at any opportunity that you find interesting. The point of going to school is to learnāitās OK if you donāt know everything yet,ā he says.
Pictured below is Mamoon during his research position at the Florida Tech Aerospace and Propulsion Lab, an experience, he says, has prepared him for the future.
Congratulations, and best of luck, Mamoon!
