🏅 Ability Plus Therapy had 3 kids participate in the Special Olympics! 🏅
Allison and Lacey won gold medals for their routine representing Brevard County as part of the Starlitz cheer team. Our very own Ms. Thalia coached the Starlitz as well.
Brian won the gold medal in his division for the running long jump and 100m dash!

We had the honor of welcoming Dr. Azlyn Goff to our facility! 🌟 After we visited her newly opened office in Melbourne, she decided to tour our facility too! Excited to see all that we had to offer; Dr. Goff tried on the TheraSuit to experience firsthand how it benefits her patients. 🤩
Here’s a little bit more about her:
A Brevard County native, Dr. Goff is passionate about pediatric orthopaedic surgery. Dedicated to helping children, she finds fulfillment in being a "mechanic for people." Well-versed in providing pediatric orthopaedic care to children with neurological conditions. Dr. Goff's commitment to exceptional pediatric care is enhanced by her fluency in English and Spanish, allowing her to connect deeply with diverse families. She believes effective communication is crucial in pediatric care, fostering trust and understanding across cultural boundaries.

Train HARD! 💪
Diego traveled from abroad to do a three week intensive physical therapy session with us! Here’s how he got to work!
🦵He started in the Universal Exercise Unit to stretch and strengthen his muscles. He performed flexion and extension of the hips to strengthen the glutes, quads and hamstrings.
🌉 He worked on bridges to target his glutes, which helps with his posture while standing and walking.
🦸Superman (prone extension) works on back extensors, glutes, and shoulders, which also targets the proper muscles to help him stand more upright!
🤵Then he puts on a TheraSuit, a soft orthotic, to provide his body with sensory feedback on how to properly position his body. This feedback allows him to activate the correct muscles groups and strengthen them.
🧎While doing transitions from kneeling to tall kneeling in the TheraSuit, he had an extra challenge of resistance thanks to the Universal Exercise Unit to target his glutes. He then had to maintain tall kneeling position with the resistance and bring a bar up and down with his elbows straight to work against his STNR and improve his posture and shoulder range of motion.
🧍♂️He went onto the Galileo vibration plate to increase body awareness. We do this before walking as it helps get the blood flowing, and improves muscle activation and balance.
💪 He went through his home therapy program including a variety of exercises to continue increasing his strength and flexibility! These included: sit-ups, superman, stretching, standing balance, and walking to improve his gait and endurance!
🎾 Finally, he rounded out his therapy doing sit-to-stands to work on balance and controlling the rotation of his hips and knees. All while playing skee-ball!

Sammie is using her voice! 📣
During a speech therapy session with Drew, she learned about body parts with a Mr. Potato Head and use of her eye gaze system. This is a fun way to label and identify body parts for pain, discomfort, and safety purposes.
Sammie is learning to use her Augmentative and Alternative Communication device (or AAC) to communicate the parts of the body, as well as her wants, needs and feelings. 💖
