I delivered two of the portraits from my ICON series, Aretha and Tina, to City Hall this week where they will be on display in the office of Mayor Paul Young. Both artists have a Memphis connection and I’m happy, excited and honored that they will be exhibited in a space that serves not only as the office of our chief executive but also as an introduction to our city for so many important dignitaries. I hope that this dream duet will inspire and delight His Honor and staff as well as all who see it.

What a delightful treat on this holiday Friday - a visit with the enchanting Betsy Taylor and her delightful son Charlie. Charlie is quite the burgeoning artist so it was great to have this opportunity to “talk shop” with the talented youngster. I see big things ahead for him! ❤️👨🏽‍🎨

What a delightful visit at the studio today with very special guests John and Suzanne Wolf, parents of our own Joshua Wolf. It’s not often that I have visitors from Melbourne! 😄👏🏻

Thrilled that His Honor Paul Young, Mayor of the City of Memphis was at the Dixon Gallery and Gardens today checking out my work in the Memphis 2024 exhibition! The show closes at the end of the month.

It’s the First Day of Summer and my THIRD ANNIVERSARY on Summer Avenue! It has its challenges, but I love my little corner of Memphis, TN. Have a nice DAY! 🙂

I’m crazy about these two pieces from UNDERSTORY. Morning Philodendron and Evening Philodendron. They work as individual pieces but are so light and refreshing as a diptych. They are 36” x 24” and $400 each. If you’re interested, let me know!

CSI ELLFROW UPDATE.

1. The surveillance camera at Town and Country Locksmiths next door captured the crime on film! We’re taking the footage to the cops.

2. A very nice man returned one of the big scheffleras this morning! He found it sitting in front of his house and knew it had been taken from the studio. Faith in humanity partially restored!

Will keep you posted as the case unfolds.

This really hurts.

Someone stole the majority of our huge tropicals from my studio last night. Jim Renfrow and I have nurtured these plants for 20 plus years and now they’re gone. I guess there were enough dudes in the crew that they boosted them over the fence. They were awfully neat about it - no random piles of dirt. The jerks left the two that were in heavy pots.

We usually move these plants to our backyard but decided that they added beauty to this troubled corner so we left them here. Obviously, that was a mistake.

I am crushed. Two of these plants had belonged to a dear friend’s mother. They always reminded me of her.
