Look who it is! We are SO glad to have former Ballet Memphis company artist Cam Cofrancesco back in the building lending his time and talents to our BMS Beyond Technique Advanced Intensive! He had a beautiful year with us during Season 36 and then moved west to dance with the company of another Ballet Memphis alum, Garrett Ammon, at Wonderbound! We love to see these incredible connections being made through dance!

BTA Intensive is a three-week course that further deepens the student’s skills. Special attention is given to technique and preparing for stage performances. Each day dancers take class before workshops and rehearsals - similar to our professional company artists - while allowing time for creative development.

One of our favorite activities brought our school and Inclusive Dance students together with Best Buddies to raise awareness and demonstrate that dance is for EVERYBODY.
We closed the professional company’s season with American Roots, a weekend of shows that featured live music from the Stax Alumni Band.
MAY:
A special season of dance culminated for our Youth Ballet Memphis dancers with an outstanding spring show and touching send-off for our ten (!) seniors. We’re so proud of our young dancers and all they continue to accomplish!

The research is undeniable - exercise and physical activity maintain and improve mobility, flexibility, and balance for people with Parkinson’s Disease.

Rather than show you statistics, we’d like you to see photos of our participants smiling, laughing, and moving in our weekly Dance for Parkinson’s class. Led by Julie Niekrasz and Kristen Osborne Lucas, Dance for Parkinson’s is a program built using science and recommendations while not forgetting that class should be fun and engaging. The benefits go far beyond the metrics! If this class would be a good fit for you or someone you know, join us on Friday mornings at 10am at Ballet Memphis!

Here is a quick roundup of our camps this summer! It is amazing how far our students come in such a short time. Happy HAPPY birthday to Phoebe Magna! Phoebe has been dancing professionally for over 10 years and has been with Ballet Memphis since 2022 when she made her debut in Steven McMahon’s “Dracula.”

Phoebe is from Canton, Connecticut originally and has been a fan of UCONN Women’s Basketball long before the attention and interest around NCAA women’s teams this past season. Love that support!

Her favorite place in Memphis is Crosstown Concourse, she always eats chocolate before a performance, and she likes Fleetwood Mac music!

Phoebe, have a terrific day! We’re so glad to have you at Ballet Memphis!

Happy HAPPY birthday to Demetrious Reed! This Philadelphia native just completed his first season with Ballet Memphis and we are so glad he’s here! You saw him as Demetrius (just a coincidence) in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” dancing Caramel, Candy Cane, and Snow Flake in “The Nutcracker,” and others throughout the Season 37.

He likes having a good meal at Good Fortune downtown, can’t live without music (he has been to several Beyonce concerts), and watches videos for laughter or inspiration before his performances. Fun fact: he has always wanted to be a dancer.

Demetrious has been a wonderful addition to the company and we can’t wait for you to see him perform in our exciting schedule of shows for Season 38! Have a terrific day, Demetrious!
