Next week- starting March 5th we’ll be offering a NEW class- Chair Strength and Stretch! This is a class anyone can do. We’ll utilize light weights, occasional bands and body resistance to strengthen our muscles, improve balance and stretch- ALL without getting on the floor!

Our classes are unlimited at $50/mo. Our studio is inside the and .dance studio in Meridian. Message us with any questions or just join us next week!

Merry Christmas!!! 🎄 ⭐️ Our savior has been born, and his name is Jesus! Celebrate in your body and soul for the freedom and life God had provided to us! Star posture is a beautiful stretch to do standing or laying on your back. (And it’s hard to do without feeling a sense of joy😃)

Day 3- Triangle
Hip opening side stretch. Standing with front foot facing forward and back foot arch in line with the front heel, turn to open arms to the side. Start to hinge forward at the waist keeping the shoulders stacked like you’re between two planes of glass.

Day 6- Downward Facing Dog- Hamstring and back stretch.
From plank, lift your hips up towards the ceiling bringing your chest towards your thighs. You might need to bend your knees or your heels may be lifted. Find a stretch that works for your body through your hamstrings and upper back. Keep your shoulders back.

Day 7 - Upward Facing Dog
Chest opener and low back stretch. Place hands under shoulders and use back strength to peel the chest up. To go deeper place pressure in your hands and lift the chest while trying to move the chest forward, stretching through the low back.

Faith Fueled Fitness Advent
Day 11 - Glute Bridge
Simple and super functional exercise to build glute, core and low back strength.
1. Place your feet under your knees, not too far out or too far in, about a hands width below your glutes.
2. Press into your heels and lift your hips.
3. Engage your core and squeeze your glutes at the top, then lower and repeat. There are many variations for this movement- try holding at the top, placing a weight on your hips or lifting one leg at the top of the movement.

Day 13 - Child’s Pose
This restorative stretch is a wonderful way to relax your back muscles, lengthen your spine, open your hips and relieve tension.
1. Start by resting on your knees with your feet close together and sitting back onto your heels.
2. Lower your upper body onto your thighs and extend your arms out long in front of you on the floor or mat. Keep your toes together and open your knees wide enough for your belly to fall between your thighs.
3. Lower your forehead all the way to the floor/ mat and relax your neck. If more comfortable, place a block, pillow or fist under your forehead. Breathe and relax.

Day 15- Pigeon
A favorite of many, this is a deep glute stretch and can also help relieve low back pain. Be careful to only stretch to the capacity your body allows and take your time. There are MANY options for this stretch.
1. Traditionally take your knee between your hands and walk your other leg behind you drawing your back hip bone towards the floor. As your body weight presses your bent leg down you’ll find a deep stretch in that front glute and outer hip flexor.
2. If your front hip is lifted off the floor, use a block to bring the floor up to you.
3. Another option is to lay on your back and slowly bring the knee into the chest. You can also bend the opposite knee and set the foot on the floor to go into more of a figure four stretch.
Listen to your body and enjoy the surrender of tight muscles.

Day 17- Runner’s Lunge
Whether truly preparing for a run or just loosening up after being stationary, this stretch is a must have! It helps stretch the large muscles we use everyday. Here’s a few options.
1. Step one foot back and place hands on blocks. Make sure the front supporting foot is directly under your knee. Feel free to drop the back knee to the floor if needed.
2. If available, reach the hands to the floor. For a more intense stretch put both hands to the inner part of the knee and possibly lower to forearms.

Faith Fueled Fitness Advent!
Day 18- Camel, Heart Opener
This posture can really help open and stretch the front of your chest, countering that hunched over feeling. Here’s a few options.
1. Knees hip width distance apart, place a block between the knees to help you engage your thigh muscles. Place your hands on your low back and engage your belly muscles while you draw your shoulders back and start to look upwards. Use core strength to come back up.
2. With toes tucked or untucked reach your hands back one at a time towards your heels. Keep your hips right over your knees as though there was a wall in front of you. Again engage your core to bring you back to center.
Practice the mental and physical challenge of opening your heart today!

Faith Fueled Fitness Advent!
Day 19- Humble Warrior
This pose can be very challenging and very powerful, just like it’s name. It will help you develop strength, balance, length in your muscles and you may be humbled as you wobble around until you get it. Here’s a few options and places to start.
1. Step back into a deep lunge but pivot your back foot to be flat on the floor. (Warrior 1)
2. Hinge forward and either bow your head reaching for blocks or the floor, OR clasp your hands behind your back, then hinge reaching your hands high while bowing your head.
3. Optional- drop into a low lunge with your back knee on the ground, then hinge forward from there.
Try something new, have fun with it, and think about taking on a posture of humbleness today.
