Vanguard Construction Technology MISD
We are the Vanguard High School Construction Team in Mesquite TX.
We also graduated the one and only Mr. Villwok. May god have mercy on all the ducks in Rockwall county.
We graduated an outstanding group of seniors tonight. I can’t begin to tell you how proud I am of each and every one of them. Our construction program has never existed without these students and will truly never be the same. I know you all will do great things and we will miss you.
By the way you guys are all officially O-U-T so I guess I win.
I would like to invite incoming 1st-6th grade students to the Mesquite ISD Camp Excel. Vanguard Construction is offering a morning (1st-3rd) and afternoon (4th-6th) session July 15-18. In these sessions students will have the opportunity to use various (age appropriate) tools and build a fun and exciting project with one of Vanguard's Construction Technology teachers!
I would like to give a huge thanks to the team at CMAC Roofing. They came out today and walked our students through the process of installing a standing seam roof system. They did a great job guiding and teaching the students all while doing a fantastic job with the install. I just can’t thank them enough.
I have to start this post by saying I am so proud and impressed with our construction students. We have been furiously working on our Tiny House project to get it framed and sealed up before summer break. The speed and efficiency they have demonstrated to get us to this point in just a few short weeks is beyond what I could’ve imagined.
I would also like to send out a special thanks to Chesmar Homes for funding this project.
Despite not bringing home any hardware, our team showcased true grit and determination at the Skills State competition. They embodied the definition of a unified team - selfless, supportive, and boasting positive attitudes even in adversity. I couldn't be prouder! And hey, I think we caught the most fish in Corpus Christi too!
We would like to thank Chesmar Homes DFW for bringing our students out and giving them tours of their new homes. The men and women from Chesmar spent two days guiding our students and answering their questions about building a modern home and educating them on their options to enter the construction industry.
We had fun today passing out medals and celebrating our hard work. On to state where hopefully we’ll be bringing back more hardware.
Our construction team collected a lot of hardware tonight at the Skills USA ceremony. They won 13 of a possible 15 medals and got 1st place in both individual and team build competitions.
8 students advanced to the state competition in Corpus Christi.
