📻 KEOM 88.5 FM is celebrating 40 Years of broadcasting excellence! 🎉On September 4, 1984, Mesquite ISD’s radio station hit the airwaves for the very first time. For the past 40 years, KEOM has been more than just a station—it’s been a training ground for MISD students, a go-to spot for classic hits, and your trusted source for local news and high school sports broadcasts.

A huge thank you to our dedicated KEOM team, who for the last four decades have supported Mesquite students on their broadcasting journey and made KEOM your community leader.

Last year, after learning how to write letters, Mrs. Lopez’s 4th grade students researched Dav Pilkey, author of the Captain Underpants and Dog Man series, before writing letters of their own to him while sharing their love for his books. Today, Mrs. Lopez was excited to share with her former students that they each recieved a personal response from the author. 📚

Thank you to not only Dav Pilkey for taking the time to respond to our students but to Mrs. Lopez for sharing the love of reading while also establishing the art and skill of letter writing. 📝

We are thrilled to share that Mesquite ISD has been selected for Phase II of the Innovative School Systems Grant! This grant, funded by the Walton Family Foundation and the Center on Reinventing Public Education, will support us in expanding AYO, our AI-driven learning platform, to 13 campuses, refining its social-emotional learning component, and enhancing parent communication functions. We are aware that users have been experiencing challenges with the MyAYO app. Recent issues with a third-party vendor temporarily prevented users from logging into their accounts, but this problem has been resolved. Establishing a routine will help your child start the day with less stress and better focus on learning. Help prepare clothes the night before and set a regular bedtime to make getting to school every morning a little easier.

This week, Mesquite ISD Board of Trustees members Teia Collier, Elaine Hornsby, Eddie Rose, and Board President Robert Seward visited campuses, greeting students and staff with warm smiles and ensuring the school year started off with positive energy and support. .

Vanguard High School's Architectural Design Team won first place at the Technology Student Association (TSA) National Conference, held over the summer in Orlando, Florida. Competing against over 8,000 students from across the nation, the team's impressive skills and creativity earned them top honors in this highly competitive event.

For the architectural design competition, participants were asked to develop comprehensive architectural plans, including detailed physical and computer-generated models that showcased their vision of a generational vacation home on a body of water. The team designed a beautiful home on a cenote in the Yucatan Peninsula. Some key features of the winning project included Mayan designs, the Mayan calendar, and a slide that would take you from the home straight into the body of water.

Reminder: Mesquite ISD requires an annual $20 usage fee per student device for insurance and content filtering. The total fee won't exceed $60 per family. Payment can be made online or in person at your child's campus. All fees are due by September 6.
