I appreciate the excellent work of the United States Secret Service for its leadership and partnership in making this week's Republican National Convention safe. Today, I formally recognized Audrey Gibson-Cicchino for her successful coordination of event security.
This week, all eyes were on Milwaukee as it hosted the Republican National Convention. Our city's people, culture and welcoming community have shined brightly, showing visitors from across the country what a great place this is. In meeting with delegates, media and dignitaries, I took every opportunity to talk up Milwaukee – and invite them back to visit again.
Welcome to Milwaukee!
What a great opportunity to showcase our city's rich cultural heritage, stunning lakefront and world-class dining on the national stage.

My statement regarding the shooting at the Donald Trump rally.
I was proud to host the Play Ball Safer City MKE event, where 2,000 local youth enjoyed a Brewers game. Many thanks to the Brewers Community Foundation, Johnsonville Sausage and Reyes Coca-Cola for their continued support of this event. It's great to see our community come together!
Herb Kohl was one of Milwaukee's favorite sons and if it weren't for his legacy, there wouldn't be an RNC, DNC, professional basketball, or any number of large acts in Wisconsin.
As soon as I learned that the honorary sign bearing his name was covered, I reached out to convention organizers immediately. They understood the importance of Senator Kohl to our community and the covering signage has been removed.
I just left the Deer District after verifying myself.
My statement on the death of D'Vontaye Mitchell 🔽
Yesterday, we celebrated the honorary renaming of a street in honor of former Alderman Terry Witkowski. I was happy to be there with the community to recognize his years of dedicated service to Milwaukee.
This week, I went on a neighborhood walk in Aldermanic District 9 with Larresa Taylor. During this walk, I connected with many families in the neighborhood.

Have a safe and joyous Independence Day!
City officials, along with the company putting on the 4th of July fireworks at various local parks, are monitoring weather forecasts for this evening.
The current plan is to go ahead with the fireworks displays as early as darkness allows. We will notify local media if there are changes to that plan.

The crime numbers for 2023 are in, and Milwaukee is a demonstrably safer city than it was the previous year. FBI Part 1 crimes, both violent crime and property crime, were down here in 2023. While numbers are important, I want everyone to feel safe in Milwaukee, so we are working and focusing on driving crime lower.
