Congratulations, Chief Lipski!

CONGRATUATIONS to Milwaukee Fire Chief Aaron D. Lipski for earning the 2024 International Association of Fire Chiefs—Great Lakes Division Fire Chief of the Year Award!

Chief Lipski was nominated by Fire and Police Commission Director Leon Todd, in coordination with the MFD Chief Officers Association. In place since 1996, the award recognizes one career and one volunteer Fire Chief per year. Some of the criteria that were considered includes "leadership, innovation, professional development, integrity, service to the public, and contributions to the fire service as a whole", with a special emphasis on the period between 2021 to 2023.

We are extremely fortunate to have Chief Lipski at the helm of the Milwaukee Fire Department. The collaborative efforts between Chief Lipski and the Mayor's Office, the Council, and the Milwaukee community at large are essential to our function and position as a nationally-recognized fire department. These collaborations have also extended to the state and national level and have yielded positive changes that have resulted in improvements for the MFD and for our membership as a whole that will pay dividends for years to come.

Congratulations, Chief!

Happy Friday, Facebook family. Let's kick off our social media day with a post to May, when MCSO Deputy Sheriff A. Colon, one of our top-notch K-9 handlers, used his K-9 first aid kit to treat Jack, a pup that had injured his paw on an escalator in the baggage terminal at MKE - Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport.

Jack was bleeding profusely, but Deputy Colon's kit, generously donated by Protecting K9 Heroes, enabled him to stop the bleeding, clean Jack's wound and get him and his family on their flight.

A job well done by Deputy Colon, and we hope Jack is still doing well.

Good morning, Milwaukee County. Please join the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office in recognizing the 12th anniversary of the death in the line of duty of Deputy Sheriff Sergio Aleman.

Deputy Aleman was killed at the age of 49 in an automobile crash on Interstate-43 at Winnebago Street in Milwaukee.

His 18 years with and his United States Navy service were a point of pride for Deputy Aleman. But his five children were his greatest pride.

Deputy Aleman is memorialized on panel 49-E: 28 at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C.

A true servant leader, thank you for giving your all, Deputy Sergio Aleman. May your memory continue to be a blessing to all who knew you.

Sheriff Ball is discussing her life, from her childhood in Arkansas, to college there and in Milwaukee, to her career with the Milwaukee Police Department, her teaching career, and, of course, her tenure as sheriff and the challenges MCSO faces as it seeks to strengthen its public safety mission in changing times.

Can we get a Sunday evening shoutout to The Ridge Community Church? This community pillar gifted dozens of pizzas to Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office members and members of dozens of other local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies --and military, too!-- who are working round-the-clock to try to keep Greater Milwaukee safe during the this week.

Not only did The Ridge team feed hundreds, but they also delivered the pizzas to several MCSO bureau locations and to the security headquarters, to not inconvenience the LEOs and service members on the receiving end.
