ABOUT THE PLAY:
Galloping through forty years in a New England women's college, BULL IN A CHINA SHOP follows Mary Woolley and her partner Jeannette Marks as they reform and revolutionize women's education at the height of the suffrage movement. As evolving ambitions and desires strain the couple's relationship, this fast-paced comedy with whiplash dialogue and a modern spin looks at how we change the world, how the world changes us, and how we try to grow old together. “A pugnacious, tender and gloriously funny new play. Bryna Turner makes an immensely auspicious professional playwriting debut […] Bull in a China Shop is passionate, joyous and radiant with life!” - The New York Times.
Bull in a China Shop runs November 2nd - 10th at Inspiration Studios in West Allis.
Some of the real life letters between Mary Woolley and Jeannette Marks: Bull in a China Shop is a love story, a turn-of-the-century fight for women's rights in education, and a hunger for women's suffrage. Contemporary dialogue and wit mingles with the true historic basis of the story to create a timeless, sapphic powerhouse of a play.
We cannot wait to see you at auditions in September!

Caesura
by Tim Backes
A workshop reading on June 28th
Directed by Kimberly Laberge
CAESURA: A break or interruption in a conversation, a line of verse, or a song. Usually a caesura means total silence, but not for long. After the death of her father, with whom she was on uneven terms, Emma Hitchens stays away from her midwestern home town for more than two years. But now she’s reluctantly back, as the school where he became a legendary choral director is looking to dedicate a new arts wing in his name. The return home forces her to confront the complexities and challenges of her relationships with her mother and brother. All the while, she is haunted by the specter of her father in a series of recurring nightmares that emphasize the weight her unexplored grief has had on her during this interruption in her life.
