Today kicks off EMS Week 2024. This year, as we recognize the 50th anniversary of the first National EMS Week, we honor those who came before us, especially those who challenged the status quo and raised the bar for all of us in EMS. And at the same time, we look forward, building on their efforts and committing ourselves to forge a future for the next generation of EMS professionals to serve their communities.
Captain Jankowski received his retirement send off this morning, after working in the North Shore for over 23 years. We wish you all the best, Ken! Congratulations and thank you for your dedicated service.
If you thought you heard a tornado siren late this afternoon, you did. The National Weather Service issued a Tornado Warning for a small portion of southeast Milwaukee County at about 5:30 PM. Currently, the tornado siren system in Milwaukee County does not allow for partial activations of the system in Milwaukee County, hence the County-Wide activation. A current siren replacement project will allow for future partial activations once complete according to Milwaukee County's Office of Emergency Management.
Congratulations to Kennedy who was sworn in as a Probationary Firefighter today. He joins Christos, who has been completing his Paramedic training the last few weeks. Together they will begin the Joint Fire Training Academy on Monday.
Thank you to our brothers and sisters in blue as we recognize National Police Week. Your service and sacrifices don't go unnoticed.
