4th and 5th grade educators - Time is running out to register for the Spring 2024 session of the Student Tools for Emergency Planning (STEP) program!
This free curriculum for 4th and 5th grade students helps teach valuable lessons about being prepared for severe weather and other hazards. Participating classrooms received free materials to help students start building their own emergency kits.

**SHELTER UPDATE** - The Red Cross shelter for those who were impacted by the Cambridge apartment fire has moved, the new address is: Holler Park - 5151 S. 6th St., Milwaukee.
A Red Cross shelter is open at Clinton Rose Senior Center on N. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. for those who have been displaced by the apartment fire last night on Cambridge Dr. Thank you to our volunteers who are providing emergency relief for those impacted by this fire.
Red Cross volunteers responded to a fire this evening at an apartment complex on Cambridge Dr. We've opened a shelter & we're providing food, water, comfort, & care to impacted residents. If you've been affected by this fire, call 1-800 RED CROSS for assistance.

An area of moderate snow is tracking down the lakeshore. Expect sudden reduction in visibilities during the afternoon commute. A quick accumulation of snow is possible, especially on bridges and overpasses. Slow down if traveling. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the lakeshore counties.
Still expecting the first accumulating snowfall of the season Tuesday morning/afternoon, with the highest snowfall rates during the morning commute. Road temperatures remain somewhat uncertain, but bridges and overpasses will likely be the most susceptible.

This is a standard test, and no action is needed.
A nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) and the Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) will take place this Wednesday, Oct. 4 at approximately 1:20 p.m. CST. During the test, alerts will be sent to cell phones, wireless devices, radios and TV's. No action is needed, but you can learn more about this test below.

FEMA Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Federal Communications Commission will conduct a nationwide emergency alert test on cell phones, wireless devices, radios and TVs.

Numerous showers and scattered storms will develop into tonight, then continuing Sunday morning over southeast WI. Small hail is possible with the stronger storms into the early evening, while waterspouts will be possible over the nearshore waters of Lake MI on Sunday.
Milwaukee County will not test outdoor warning sirens today due to inclement weather. The next test will be Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at noon. We test the sirens on the second Wednesday of each month at noon, weather permitting.
Storms moving eastward will be capable of producing pea-sized hail and briefly gusty winds through this evening. Showers will linger through tonight.

The heat will continue into Thursday evening. Temperatures will remain elevated in the low to mid 70s overnight across southern Wisconsin. Heat Indices of 105 to 110 degrees F are forecast Thursday, especially along and south of I-94.
