*** Attention ***
There have been attempts by scammers to extort money from CRNAs.
They pose as law enforcement agencies, with matching caller ID #’s and claim you have missed court as an expert witness and are in contempt of court.
They apparently know quite a bit of personal information, can be very high pressure, and a bit unsettling.
THIS IS A SCAM. WE REPEAT, THIS IS A SCAM!!!
Honoring and Remembering ALL who have SERVED our Great Country.

Did you know..?
During calendar year 2022, WIANA attended 18 bi-partisan political events, and contributed roughly $21,000 in PAC dollars to friends of WIANA.
In response to the March 9th, 2023 Wisconsin Medical Society advocacy alert entitled, "Deja vu in the Capitol: independent nursing bill introduced- Physician advocacy needed."
Wiana would like to Issue these comments.
The APRN bill that was vetoed last session, was done so out of fear mongering tactics and blatant lies. The Governor's disappointment that the bill "(did) not address some of the issues raised by parties in the medical profession." was due to the fact that physician lead groups injected restrictive language which SET BACK CRNA practice and lies about APRN practice throughout the process. The Wisconsin Medical Society and the Wisconsin Nurses Association have continued to meet in private, and broker a deal which is detrimental to APRN practice; this is the version in Governor Evers' budget bill.
It requires:
- 4 years nursing experience, 2 as an APRN prior to independent practice.
- Pain management CRNAs to work in collaboration with a Pain Medicine physician. (Problematic as greater than 75% of Physicians providing pain management care do not have specific training, fellowship, or certification in pain management. In Wisconsin, ALL CRNAs practicing pain management are enrolled/have training by way of a pain fellowship and/or board certification in pain)
- Title Protection of the term Anesthesiologist.
- Include other APRNs in the Injured Patient Compensation Fund
Senator Testin's Bill, LRB-0589, introduced March 9th, requires:
- 2 years of APRN practice prior to independent practice (functionally similar to the Governor's version, as our APRN experience will guide our independent practice)
- Allows CRNAs to practice pain in collaboration with a physician (Consistent with how we are CURRENTLY delivering care today in Wisconsin)
- Does not include Title Protection language
- Also includes Injured Patient Compensation Fund language.
The Physician groups do not like Senator Testin's version because it allows CRNAs to maintain our current standard of practice. They want the Governor's version to remain in the budget, so that they can RESTRICT OUR PRACTICE, and set CRNAs and other APRNs back decades. It also allows them to pass the titling language that likely won't pass in a stand alone bill.
Please go to maps.legis.wisconsin.gov and enter your address.
Please contact your elected officials and request that they remove Governor Evers' version of the APRN bill from the budget, and support/co-sponsor Senator Testin's version LRB-0589.
VOTE for ROSE SILVEIRA, CRNA for outstanding nurse to be recognized during national nurses week.
