We are excited to share that the YWCA Southeast Wisconsin Collaborative Work Groups are serving as a community partner for "Mom and Dad's Ni**le Factory" at the Milwaukee Film Festival this year. We will be attending the opening night screening of the film this Thursday at the Oriental Theater.
As Collaborative Work Groups, we are focused on reducing breast cancer disparities in Southeastern Wisconsin. We are especially excited to be partnering with a film that continues the conversation surrounding breast cancer and survivorship.

"Long live the Queen!" Today, celebrates an icon in the entertainment industry and a trailblazer for women everywhere - Queen Latifah. From her early beginnings as a rapper, to her successful transition to acting, producing, and now hosting her own talk show, Queen Latifah has shattered glass ceilings and paved the way for women in a male-dominated industry.
Not only has she accomplished so much in her career, but she has also used her platform to advocate for social justice issues and give back to her community through philanthropy.
Let's take a moment to appreciate all of the incredible things Queen Latifah has done and continues to do for women's history. Thank you for being an inspiration and a true queen. 🌹🌹🌹
We are excited to share that YWCA Southeast Wisconsin's 5.09 high school equivalency diploma (HSED) program was celebrated at a reception hosted by Mayor Cory Mason, city officials, and GROW Racine staff. We are proud of our scholarship recipients who have worked hard to achieve their educational goals. Our HSED program is the largest in the state of its kind and is a top-tier educational program in both English and Spanish. Check out these photos taken by René Amado Photography of the event. We want to take a moment to thank all the staff in in Mayor Cory Mason’s office and at the city who have worked tirelessly to make this program a success. Your dedication and hard work have truly made a difference in the lives of so many individuals in Racine.
Thank you for your commitment to making a positive impact in the community, and we look forward to seeing the continued success of GROW Racine in its second year and beyond.
It's been one year since we launched the GROW Racine to help uplift people into the middle class. The city is helping residents afford the rising cost of living while they earn their high school equivalency diploma with the YWCA Southeast Wisconsin, complete pre-apprenticeship training with WRTP / BIG STEP and Racine Family YMCA’s First Choice, be part of our new Youth Employment Program (YEP), and get city grants to improve or repair their home.
I'd like to thank all of the staff in my office and at the city who are responsible for helping this program succeed including Vicky, Krysta, Kischa, Christina, Shayla, Ellen, Jenn, and everyone who works with a GROW partner.
I'm so proud of this program and I can't wait to see what GROW does in its second year!

👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Congratulations!
Verta M. stopped by earlier this week to pick up her GROW Racine certificate recognizing her work to earn her high school equivalency degree through YWCA Southeast Wisconsin's HSED 5.09 program. She didn't "need" the degree, but wanted to show her kids how important education is. Congrats!
We opened our doors to thank and party with Milwaukee youth and their families. We had a blast. They were amazing to be around. This gesture of gratitude and inclusion sparked intergenerational relationships we need to empower women, eliminate racism, and promote justice.

Today, we honor Vel Phillips for her trailblazing work in the civil rights movement.
Her name can be seen gracing streets in Milwaukee and beyond, yet few truly understand the impact of her actions.
Velvalea Hortense Rodgers (born Vel Phillips), was ahead of her time and stands as an example of what one person can do to create meaningful change.
She was the first African American woman to graduate from UW-Madison Law School and the first woman and African American elected to the Milwaukee Common Council.
Vel Phillips pioneered the fight for open housing laws in Milwaukee during a critical period in civil rights history.
Today, let us look to Vel Phillips’ legacy as an inspiration and strive to continue the fight for racial equity, justice, progress, and human rights.
Ladies, the evidence is clear: investing in strong relationships with other women can pay off big time.
Research from Harvard Business Review found that women who have an inner circle of close female contacts are more likely to get executive positions with greater authority and higher pay.
Let's band together to support and challenge each other, inspiring each other to shine brightly and reach our highest potential!
And to those who are still looking for their light, don't be afraid to reach out and connect.
Who knows what possibilities await you there? After all, it can only get brighter from where you are.
We’re celebrating and couldn't be more excited to see success with her restaurant ! 🫶🏽
👉🏽We shared this exact post Feb 14th of last year and it is just fantastic to see that one year later, 1700 Pull Up has not disappointed us!

Last week, had the honor of making a connection with a special guest from the White House event.
Delores Sallis , a community advocate for the disabled, was honored for an initiative she launched during the COVID crisis to help get individuals with disabilities vaccinated.
Our CEO, Tracy Williams, was in attendance and is excited to continue forging relationships with committed community advocates like Delores to further our shared mission of creating positive change in our communities.
