Tanesha “Coach Tea” Ingram (Public Allies New York ‘04) is a Bronx Native and co-owner of The Bronx Collab, a community and co-working space in the North Bronx.

The Bronx Collab, a CitizensNYC grantee partner, assists entrepreneurs through training and mentorship, facilitates a monthly pantry, operates a resource hub for young women, and recently converted an outdoor space into a community garden. To date her small business has assisted over 500 entrepreneurs and served thousands of Bronxites via their community pantry.

Tea’s life’s work revolves around nonprofit coaching, youth empowerment, and community development. She is a mother, mentor, writer and healer. She is committed to transforming the lives of youth, communities and businesses in The Bronx.

On Thursday morning, the Senate Appropriations Committee is marking up the Labor-H appropriations bill that includes AmeriCorps funding. The next two days are critical in ensuring lawmakers understand the need to fully invest in opportunities, including Public Allies.

Did you know that AmeriCorps is on the chopping block in its 30th anniversary year?

Congress is debating FY25 appropriations bills and catastrophic cuts to AmeriCorps have been proposed. The House has recommended eliminating funding for AmeriCorps State and National, AmeriCorps NCCC, the State Service Commissions, and the National Service Trust, threatening over 71,000 service positions, including those at Public Allies.

During AmeriCorps' 30th anniversary, the House of Representatives has proposed to eliminate funding for AmeriCorps State and National, AmeriCorps NCCC, the State Service Commissions, and the National Service Trust.

On July 24, Voices for National Service is joining forces with States for Service, Service Year, and The Corps Network for Today, a virtual day of action! We will be emailing and calling our lawmakers in D.C., urging them to reject cuts, and to increase the investment in AmeriCorps. We will be sharing the tools to make participation fast and easy.

Meet Ashely Dickerson (she/her) (Public Allies Arizona '16) 💛

Ashely has dedicated her career to service. Her passion for education and helping others led her to join the Public Allies program at the ASU Lodestar Center for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Innovation, an experience that profoundly shaped her perspective and career path.

She currently serves as the Director of Programs for FosterEd Arizona with the National Center for Youth Law, the only agency in the state providing educational advocacy and support for youth in the foster care system.

Meet Gemini Rorie (he/him) (Public Allies Connecticut ‘23 & ‘24) ❤️

In his first term of service, Gemini was placed with Naugatuck Youth Services where he helped expand opportunities for local youth and forged crucial connections with Naugatuck High School. Currently, he is serving his second term with PA Connecticut’s long time partner Higher Heights Youth Empowerment Programs, Inc.

Beyond supporting initiatives at places like Career High School (New Haven), Naugatuck High School, and Higher Heights, Gemini’s outreach extends to collaborating with the Boys & Girls Club, identifying and supporting students in need of financial assistance for summer employment, particularly those who are first-generation learners. Through the Public Allies Connecticut program, Gemini embodies the transformative potential of service, inspiring others to join him in creating meaningful change within their communities and beyond.

Outside of PACT, Gemini is actively pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice with aspirations to become a lawyer.
