River of Hope Church - TC

River of Hope Church is seeking a new Director of Communications. Responsibilities include publishing a weekly online newsletter sent out to members via email, maintaining and updating the church’s website, and posting church news on Facebook and Instagram. In addition, the communications directly meets weekly with the pastor and music director to plan Sunday services and creates the slides needed for the service. This is a 20-hour per-week position. This week we will take a look at Acts chapter 4 with the story of what happened to Peter, John, and the other believers after the healing of the crippled beggar. David will use this text to guide us in a discussion about what to expect when the Holy Spirit moves, and thus how we can be prepared in advance. The moving of the Spirit is a defining marker of the ministry of the church in this age, and is a wonderful gift, so we should find ourselves longing for more of His activity and doing whatever we can to increase it. Come inquisitive and expectant, and may the Spirit meet us with His wonderful works, as He did for those early believers!

Join us this Sunday as we continue our Book of Acts series: Praying for Healing and Miracles. Acts 3:1-10; 5:12-16. Understanding some practicals of healing and miracles helps us go deeper into encountering The One (Jesus) Who is healing! As we dive into the Word, we will also pray for emotional and physical healing in small groups. Come with curiosity, doubts, and faith — Jesus longs to move among us!

Join us this week we will examine the Old Testament celebration of Pentecost and why that’s significant for what happened to the disciples as they celebrated it in Acts 2. We will also study what happened immediately after Pentecost as Peter preached his second sermon in Acts 3.

When Jesus is the Master Fisherman, we catch abundant blessings, beautiful words, and revealed treasures. Especially in Galilee, people who walk in darkness will need a light to brighten their way. Jesus’ love is necessary for reconciliation with God, others, and self.

The Crucifixion and Resurrection of Jesus Christ is one of the most fundamental events in the Bible, the world, and in Christianity. In this sermon, we continue to explore events that occurred after the resurrection and in particular, the appearance of Jesus to His disciples and what this meant for them and for us today.

We are looking for donations of perennial plants like hostas and daylilies! We will be adding these plants in the front of the building and the forest area above the parking lot. Join us as this morning for our Sunday message -

Last Sunday was Easter Sunday, a time of rejoicing over Jesus’ resurrection. Let’s go back to the first Easter and watch as the women approach the tomb in pre-dawn darkness wondering who will move the stone for them. They are loaded down with burial spices. They walk slowly, grieving, wondering why Jesus was killed, perhaps discussing what had happened to his power. One of them says, “I thought he was the Messiah.”
And then they arrive at the tomb and they are frightened, shocked, confused, and then surprised by Joy. They even meet the Master!
We will be reading their accounts and discussing what the Bible says. We will focus on the women who followed Jesus out of Galilee, to Jerusalem, to the foot of the cross, and to the tomb. They are the first witnesses to the resurrection.

We would love to invite you to join us for prayer. This week we have three different prayer meetings! Wednesday, April 3rd we will be meeting at 7:30 pm in the sanctuary and on Zoom to pray for healing for our community and those close to us. If you know anyone who needs healing please feel free to invite them to join us. Friday mornings at 7 am we have a Zoom meeting to pray for the many workers we have sent out from ROH. Lastly Saturday, April 6th the new prayer initiative “Twin Cities Prayer Room” is hosting an Emergency Prayer Meeting from 6-9 pm in the sanctuary to pray for our cities and state. More information for each meeting can be found on our Website. We hope to see you at one or all of these meetings! 

Easter is when we celebrate the best news that we could ever receive – that Jesus Christ arose and that sin and death have been defeated! We no longer face the finality of death but have the promise of living eternally with God. That is the best news ever! This Easter Sunday we will celebrate this Good News and consider what the Bible tells us about what was accomplished in the death and resurrection of God’s Only Son. We encourage you to read 1 Corinthians 15 and Ephesians 2-3 before coming to church this Sunday. Think about what the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ did for us and how it accomplishes God’s purposes. We look forward to hearing what you have to share about what the Holy Spirit speaks to you about Easter.
