We couldn't be more excited to welcome Ellis Delaney back as our musical artist-in-residence for the next three weeks!
Here's some of what Chris wrote in a recent blog post: "Ellis Delaney is an amazing songwriter and performer who happens to live in the same neighborhood the Fabric staff have officed out of for years. I can't think of another artist that more beautifully aligns with who Fabric is today than Ellis. I don't mean that in a sort of picture of likeminded homogeneity, but rather when I consider what Ellis' music inspires in me (and who I've started to discover Ellis to be as a human and friend), it feels like it's those community values we as Fabric had been noticing and finally articulated clearly a couple years ago; Brave Uncertainty, Share Warmth, Think Big, Choose Connection, and Whimsify!"
See you tomorrow morning at 10:30 a.m. at the Minnehaha Falls bandshell; you're not going to want to miss the next three weeks with Ellis!
Canoes and kayaks and paddleboards oh my!
Some of us thought the mud pit was a blast!
We spent time at camp with the idea that water is hard to control AND that we call need it to live! So that of course included some silly water relays!
Cabin time = fun time and time for connection!
Team Grey Duck going over their Mission strategy!
Camp definitively gives us a chance to practice being in the growth zone!
Fabric youth connecting back to their wild selves!
Tonight, 6:30! So excited for the group showing up to Get to Know Fabric. We've it moved it from Minnehaha Falls Park inside to the Fabulous Fabric office given the weather forecast.
There's still room to join in. Bring your curiosity about Fabric and how a community like this can matter. Send a note to [email protected] if you plan to come!

Given the thunder, we've made the call to not gather at the Falls for the Minnehaha Falls Art Fair | Open Mic. We're hoping that we'll be able to share some pop-up music at Venn Brewing Company (stay tuned). Either way, come have a cup of coffee at Venn with us.
See ya at Venn Brewing at 10:30am!
We've wrapped our "Cease and Resist" series, and are eager to welcome you all to the Minnehaha Falls Bandshell (near Sea Salt Eatery) most Sundays this summer starting this Sunday at 10:30 a.m.!
Here's a beautiful blog post offered by Fabric's very own photographer poet Jeanette Mayo, who spent some time reflecting on her own experience of Sabbath— of "Ceasing and Resisting."
Enjoy!
The Upside of Down Time — Fabric Fabric regular Jeannette Mayo
It sounds great to just set down the work. But some work can't wait, even when you need to stop and take a breather. If you feel stuck trying to find healthy rhythms that don't leave you or others resentful or burnt out - you aren't alone. (Or maybe that's the problem?!)
This week Chris Lillehei and chaplain colleague Katie Slack not only talk about creating healthy rhythms of work and rest with others, they model it! Take a listen to this week’s Cease and Resist podcast episode.
Cease and Resist | Commune Rest can sometimes feel like we are putting burdens on others; if I rest, then someone else has to work harder. However, when done well, sabbath can be an invitation to create healthy communities that together find balance in the interplay of work and rest.
Here’s some delight for your Friday- this year’s camp theme! August will see Fabric youth at Camp Courage, talking about rewilding, or reconnecting with our wild nature.
We’ll be spending time getting up close with the natural world and exploring how our own wildness is part of living a deeply woven life. Come along as we develop our awareness of and appreciation of the ecology all around us and discover ways we can take an active role in its healing. Get ready for games, wild discoveries, creating, and all the ways that we build friendships and amazing experiences at camp!
Do you have a favorite way to connect to your wild self? Let us know!

Week two of our Cease and Resist series is now available on the podcast. This week, we look at Leviticus to help us peer into how sabbath cracks open the possibility of letting ourselves (and everything around us) go a bit wild… what would be possible if we experienced restoration?
Who would we be if we felt restored?

Cease and Resist | Sabbath 101 Does it feel like there’s too much going on to pause what you’re doing? What if stopping was one of the most effective ways to join the resistance? Together, let's get into the concept of "sabbath," reclaim it a bit, and let it pick away at "the way things are" as we move forward towards how thi...
