Job Description:
With direction and support from the Facilities Manager, the Assistant Custodian sweeps, mops, wipes down, cleans, and scrubs up the messes that ministry makes on our grounds and in our building. This person will assist in keeping our building and grounds clean and orderly, set up rooms for events and meetings, keep the sidewalks clear of snow and ice, and help with the security and safety of our building and its occupants.

Various hours per planned events within the building. Some regular hours - especially on weekends and weeknights.

Position begins as soon as possible.

Join our Community Choirs! This is a great way to try joining a vocal or bell choir without a huge commitment. Just two rehearsals and one performance. ALL ARE WELCOME! No experience necessary!

Bethel Lutheran Church in South Minneapolis will be hosting a Fall Festival Fundraiser on Saturday, October 5, 2024. We are looking for vendors to join us at the event. The Festival will be held outside (weather permitting—or moved inside for rain) and the fee for a table at our event is $75. Fee is due upon acceptance.

We are looking for a wide variety of vendors but also have limited spots to fill. We will be accepting applications until Thursday, August 15, 2024. After that day we will make a decision on vendors and notify all applicants if they have been accepted or not.

Bethel is now collecting school supplies for kids in need!

Education is one of the strongest tools a community can use to break the cycle of poverty. Children, especially girls, and some adults benefit from these kits. Currently, thirty-one backpacks are sewn. More are being made. With stores featuring sales on school supplies, now is a good time to purchase them.

SCHOOL SUPPLIES TO FILL THE BACKPACKS ARE:

• 70 sheet notebooks of wide-ruled paper

• 30-centimeter ruler

• Pencil sharpener

• Blunt scissors

• Unsharpened #2 pencils with erasers

• Box of 16 or 24 crayons

• 2 ½-inch eraser

• Blue or black stick ballpoint pens (no gel ink)

Items with any religious or military symbols, flags, group emblems and names cannot be accepted.

I stumped the Pastor with this one! 😆 This is the flooring under the alter in the front of the church. Have you walked on this floor? Take a picture of your feet next time you’re up there!

Where in the Church?! I bet you’ve looked at this embroidery work of the Last Supper many times without really looking at it. It’s right across from the Parlor, where the hospitality table sits on Sundays. If anyone has additional information about this, please share!

This one really got people talking! This is the Antique 16th Century Spanish Varguena chest located in the parlor. And here is some additional information about the chest as well. Did you know it was given to the church to honor and memory of the women who have served in the church?

A lot of you were really close on this one, but I was looking for an exact location! This is behind the marble alter looking out at the congregation. Did you guess it?! Stay tuned for more results from our “Where in the Church” series!

Did you get this one right? It was up in the balcony between the piano and organ. Many of our musicians and ushers have been to the balcony, but have you? Feel free to check it out next time you’re at Bethel!

More results for our “Where in the Church” series! This mural is just outside the toddler room by our fully accessible bathroom. It was painted by our oh-so-incredibly-talented member, Mike Wohnoutka! Mike has illustrated many children’s books and recently the author and illustrator of the book “Ups and Downs: A Book of Emotions.” You can find this book and more of Mike’s work in our library!

We planted a tree to celebrate our 125th anniversary! The tree is on the corner of 16th Ave and 41st Street (behind our Bethel sign). Thank you to everyone who made this possible!
