Compass Undergraduate
Throughout history, BIPOC have had the loudest voices when it comes to creating change for our community. They have been instrumental in helping to achieve change and in creating advocacy to all LGBTQ+ voices. That being said, they have also been the most negatively impacted. We as the Compass community owe so much to the Black members of the LGBTQ+ community. The Stonewall Riots were led by trans POC; and, the LGBTQ+ community would not be where it is today without their amazing contributions both then, and now. We stand in solidarity with the Black community and the Blacks Lives Matter movement.
We will be matching donations to blackvisionsmn.org and would love your support. If you’d like to donate, please use the link that can be found in our bio.
Black lives matter. Black men matter. Black women matter. Black trans people matter. Black q***r people matter. Black futures matter.

Clayton was born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. He completed a Bachelor's Degree in Commerce at the University of Saskatchewan (1997). He completed his MSc in 2000. Part of his time at the U of S involved teaching some accounting courses. This experience in the classroom was very enjoyable. He worked for a technology transfer company doing research for them on nontraditional ways of measuring performance in this nontraditional business.
After his MSc, he moved to the USA to pursue his PhD at the University of Iowa. He graduated and joined the faculty at the University of Minnesota in 2007.

Sammi is a full time MBA student from Vancouver Washington. She attended undergraduate at Whitman College, majoring in Biology and planning to attend medical school. During her time at Whitman, she worked in wilderness education, as a professional whitewater raft guide, and for several different wineries in the Walla Walla Valley.
After her BA, she moved to Santa Barbra to manage the outdoor program of a private high school, before returning to Washington to become the General Manager of two joint venture start-up wineries. There she found an interest in business financing and strategic planning, particularly as it related to start-ups and alternative business models.
Sammi decided to formalize her business education with an MBA and chose Carlson for its combination of socially conscious and driven students, collaborative learning culture, and the academic prowess of its faculty. She will speak to her background and journey to Carlson, her experience integrating into the LGBTQ community at Carlson and the twin cities, and her aspirations for her future as it relates to her education and growth during her MBA.
