For the first time, Meghan Foley will be leading Yin Yoga Teacher Training at Blooma 💜

For anyone looking to deepen their yoga practice, Yin Yoga is a subtle yet complex practice that balances out the Yang (active) side of your yoga practice, and life in general, by addressing the fascia of the body with long holds, mindful breathing and holding space. This comprehensive 21 hour training will teach students about the meridians of the body affected by Yin postures, the yoga and Taoist philosophy steeped in the Yin tradition, how to sequence and teach a Yin practice, and how to hold space for a quieter, more restorative practice.

This training is recommended for teachers who have completed their 200-hour teacher training in any lineage, or are currently in the process of completing a 200-hour training. Qualifies for Yoga-Alliance approved Continuing Education Credits.

Schedule:
Friday, October 25th 1-8pm
Saturday, October 26th 12:30-7:30pm
Sunday, October 27th 12:30-7:30pm

About Your Instructor:
Meghan Foley has been teaching Yin Yoga and training instructors for over 10 years, weaving in her background of Ayurvedic medicine, Taoist philosophy, and functional anatomy. Trained as a yoga therapist and ayurvedic health counselor, Meghan offers weekly yoga classes, private sessions, workshops, retreats and teacher trainings in the Twin Cities on a regular basis.

Birth story time! “When I went into labor, I was confident it myself. Meagan and Shiana had taught me the way to breathe, the movements to make, the experiences I wanted. I was thankful for all of this knowledge. Once I got into active labor, I couldn't remember everything I had planned for my birth, but when Meagan arrived at the hospital, a new sense of peace and energy came over me. She gave my husband and mom some more tips on how to be with me throughout my labor and explained to me how the movements I was making were moving my baby in real time. She knew what I was thinking and what I was going to say before I said it, and had helpful words every step of the way.
Without my doulas, I never would have been able to have the unmedicated birth that I wanted. After birth, I am still blown away by the support they have given us as a new family.” - Ashley

Starting out the week with a supportive birth story 🥹 “My baby boy was born via C-section on November 30th. Having Sarah with me in the operating room (and pre and post op), and extra support from Megan, was invaluable, reassuring, empowering and so calming. Thank you Blooma!“ Molly

“Giving birth the second time meant I knew what to expect, for better or worse, but I also knew how to prepare and what I was capable of physically and mentally. It was an excruciating yet incredible experience to be able to listen and flow with my body and birth team to bring this beautiful little life into the world.”

Over the past couple of months, our team has been fortunate to support families with twins in the immediate postpartum period, through postpartum doula care, Mom's groups and more. We are sharing our best practices if you have twins, are expecting twins, or want to send to a loved one with twins!
- keep both babies on the same schedule for feeding and naps
- sideways feeds for nursing and paced feeding twins with bottles for their schedule
- know that you are not meant to do this alone. Ask for hands on help from loved ones or professionals so you can sleep, take care of yourself and get one on one bonding with each baby

Navigating Visitors With a Newborn — Blooma When our first baby was born in August 2019, we had fourteen different visitors over the first two days of Dawson’s life, some people visiting more than once! I have some really special memories attached to those first days. My dad, who had been pretty reserved throughout my pregnancy, cried tears...

Birth is…

pregnant women and people being heard, having their wishes and needs being met as they prepare for labor and birthing, and having the freedom to choose what interventions they receive

getting the care and respect they deserve for their unique pregnancy and body

having a birth experience women and gender expansive people can reflect on in postpartum with peace and pride, and have the support they need in postpartum

To the World Health Organization (WHO) a ‘good birth’ and woman-centered approach means ‘avoiding unnecessary medical interventions, encouraging women to move around freely during early labor, choose their birth position and have a companion by their side’ WHO has also updated their benchmarks for cervical dilation to no longer indicate a need for medical interventions

What does birth mean to you?

At Blooma our intention is to provide a space for you to explore and tune in on what will help you feel safe and supported as you navigate this ever changing journey 🤍
