+Favorite legal document to draft? Discovery deficiency letters
+What do you do for fun when outside of the office? Trick question! There is no fun outside the office. That said, I run a lot, listen to and play music, and coach youth sports.
+Surprising fact about yourself? I spent the 90s playing in an alternative music band. I rarely remember to use sunscreen.
+What is your favorite thing about practicing employment law? I like helping working people fight back against wrongful treatment by their employers. I also like that an important part of the job is working to eliminate all forms of discrimination.

+ Where did you go to law school? University of Minnesota Law School
+Favorite legal document to draft? That’s a tough one. I would say it’s a tie between demand letters and complaints (the legal document we use to commence a lawsuit). These are where I get to first tell my clients’ stories. My clients’ reactions to having their stories powerfully told is very gratifying to me.
+What do you do for fun when outside of the office? I enjoy live music with my friends and family.
+Surprising fact about yourself? My “go-to” song for karaoke is the unplugged version of Take On Me from A-ha.
+What is your favorite thing about practicing employment law? All my clients are going through a difficult and stressful time in their lives when they first call me. I have the privilege of helping them assert some control over the situation, which can oftentimes be the first step in them moving forward in their lives with confidence.

Congratulations to Nick May for being named an Attorney of the Year by Minnesota Lawyer. Nick and his team, including Lucas Kane, Elizabeth Binczik, and Christie Smith secured what is believed to be the first jury verdict in favor of transgender person under the Minnesota Human Rights Act. They accepted the award, along with their client Christina Ginther, who showed tremendous courage throughout. The FMA team secured a recovery of nearly $200,000.
