We as the officers of the University of Minnesota Chapter of CNAfME stand against police brutality and recognize the murder of George Floyd as a result of systematic racism within our country and our police force. We support and appreciate Dr. Kim's statement to the School of Music, as well as the statements put out by MMEA and NAfME (links below and in comments).
As future music educators, we must stand up for and listen to our BIPOC students. One way of doing this is to educate ourselves now on issues of race and diversity in the music classroom. Both statements from MMEA and NAfME provide steps to diversify our music classrooms and be better teachers. We encourage everyone to take a look at these links below as the first step to a lifelong journey of educating ourselves and being there for our students.

Remember tomorrow at 3:30 is our end-of-the-semester get-together, which we will be having outdoors! If there is inclement weather we will be moving indoors, likely to room 205 or another larger space. 🎉
We hope to see all of you there! Stay strong as finals week approaches! 🤝
Hello all! 🌱
Reminder: we are having our planned meeting tomorrow in Room 205 at 3:30! There will be snacks and plenty to discuss as officer elections (and the end of the semester) are rapidly approaching! 🎷
We hope to see you all there!
TGIF folks! ☀️
As the end of the semester draws ever so near, we are planning on having one more CNApplebees hangout during the week BEFORE Finals Week (when we're all studying/have more time on our hands)! Just to be clear, that is the week of May 6th - 10th. 🎶
Please COMMENT below on this post which day(s) of the week work(s) best in your schedule so we can best plan when to have our hangout! Remember, half-apps are after 9pm so whichever day we decide on we will meet at Applebees on East Bank at around 9:15 or so. 🍔
PLEASE don't forget to email us regarding officer elections if you haven't done so already! 🌟
Have a wonderful weekend all ~
Hi all!
Just a reminder that we are meeting up today from 3:30 to 4:30 in Room 205 upstairs.
Also, we have moved our Sunday @ 4pm meetings to Fridays from 3:30 to 4:30, and changing our venue from 280 to 205. We've found these changes make it easier for folks to join us for more meetings! 💻
Enjoy your Friday and your weekend!
Happy Monday everyone! Only one week left before break! 💫
For our 3:30pm meeting on Friday, we’re changing to room 205 upstairs instead of 280 like normal. MMTA needs more time to set up for their evening conference so we’ve just traded spaces. ✌️
Hope to see you all this Friday! ⭐️
TGIF everyone!!🌟
Just a reminder that we will be having a meeting next Friday, March 15th, at 3:30pm!
It will be our last meeting before Spring Break, so please make it if you can! 🍎

It appears that everyone agreed that Sundays at 4:00pm is the best time to meet up this semester, so be sure to check the private group for the dates and times (you should all be getting Facebook notifications anyway)! 🗓
Coming up this semester we've got another bake sale (taking place on Mardi Gras) and other terrific activities to get involved in; let's take on 2019! 🎶
