The final day of the Gathering welcomed all 16,000+ participants back to Smoothie King Arena for a Closing Worship service, with Presiding Bishop Elizabeth Eaton preaching on the story of the Good Samaritan. This service brought joy and dancing and holy movement and spirit-filled music, the ultimate culmination of a week where all were reminded of who God created them to be. At the end of the service, the community gave thanks to Gathering Director Deacon Tammy Jones West for her faithful service, and welcomed Deacon Jess Liles as the new Gathering Director through the Rite of Installation. In a celebratory ending, the Gathering announced the location for 2027 - Minneapolis! ✨
Day 4 of the Gathering reminded attendees that they are created to be disruptive, to work for justice for all our siblings. This was carried out through more Accompaniment projects throughout the city, space to create and learn in Interactive Learning and Community Life, connections fostered at Synod Day worship services, and ultimately culminated at Mass Gathering. Artist Blanca began the evening with powerful tunes, and speakers Sally Azar, Lori Fuller, and Nati reminded participants of the holy disruption we’re all called to live into. ✨

"Instead of being bound by the expectations of others, contorting myself into the most uncomfortable positions for their approval - I found myself chasing the freedom of expression that God intended for all of creation." - Keats Miles-Wallace, Mass Gathering Speaker Night 3 ✨
"The freedom work that we are called to is to honor the human dignity of every person in the world..." - Austin Channing Brown, Mass Gathering Speaker Night 3 ✨
We are created to be free, to be transformed by the gospel. The third day of the Gathering brought this transformative energy as participants worshipped, served, and laughed together. Mass Gathering speakers Austin Channing Brown, Keats Miles-Wallace, Drew Tucker, and Sianna spoke to the freedom they all experience when they truly live into who God created them to be. A powerful youth spoken word artist, a moving performance from two dancers, and a mass cast song with over 500 participants closed out the night. ✨
