This is an INCREDIBLE group of performers, stories, songs and soon to be paintings. So funny. A dose of nostalgia. A sprinkle of sadness. A heart warmer and a community builder.

Not to be sappy BUT there is something about being in the room with these shows. I can’t quite describe it. There is something special about us all together, hearing, singing, truly listening and relating to one another despite different stories, experiences, people. Fellow travelers at a campfire. You just gotta come see.

Check ‘er out - MIXTAPE opens tonight. 🔥

Live music ROCKS! And Micah helps bring in that sweet sound!

Micah Erickson is excited to be joining the Wayward house band for another Mixtape! He plays bass guitar and tries to squeeze vocal harmonies into every song. Vocal harmonies are like The Princess Bride - they never get old!

Micah, if we all traveled back in time and peeked into your VCR, what would we find there? “My favorite/most watched VHS was The Princess Bride.” A classic!

Come check out his incredible bass skills and snap up those tickets today! waywardtheatre.org

Did we mention there is an artist ON STAGE live painting during the entire show?? Cuz, yeah baby, it’s true!

Chris Gorecki is a classically trained painter, illustrator and certified comic book geek, based out of St. Paul. You can find his art connected to a number of theater shows, art shows and Pop-ups through out the Twin Cites Including collaborating with Wayward Theater and Mix Tape since the very beginning. He plays with a multitude of materials and mediums, But his first love is the deep rich color of oil paints. Instead of words, he create his stories through the broad strokes and textures on the canvas right before your very eyes.

If he was to take a trip back in the Wayward time machine. You would if a warn out copy of Big Trouble in Little China stuck in his VCR. Where you can always hear my good Friend Jack Burtton saying “it’s all in the reflexes baby, all in the reflexes!”

Storyteller announcement Tuesday!! 📣 We are DELIGHTED to welcome Amy back to the Mixtape stage! We love her, we missed her and we are so lucky to have her incredible talents back on this here stage!

Actor, writer and storyteller Amy Salloway is very excited to get to be a part of Mixtape again! Amy is the creator of four autobiographical solo plays that have toured across the US and Canada, including “So Kiss Me Already, Herschel Gertz!” and “Circumference.” She’s contributed true personal stories to MPR and CBC radio, and has both told and coached stories for the hit podcast “Risk!” Amy teaches all kinds of narrative arts classes through Minneapolis Community Ed, and is the midwest instructor for The Story Studio. You can see what she’s up to at www.facebook.com/awkwardmomentonstage.

Amy still owns a VCR and VHS tapes (they’re sitting right on top of her butter churn, next to the cast-iron stove), and is pretty sure the last VHS movie she watched was 1981’s “Fame.”

Kymani Kahlil has been gracing our Mixtape stage for the past several years and we are so incredibly lucky to listen to her stories, soak in her wisdom and laugh with her incredible humor.

Kymani Kahlil (She/They/Viewer’sChoice) is a Twin-Cities based generative theater & multidisciplinary artist. Her work explores personal experience, social justice, identity and belonging, and other uncommon narratives through storytelling, movement and song. This is Kymani’s 5th Mixtape with Wayward Theater.

If we could travel back in time, what VHS would be in your VCR right now? “The Last Dragon or Never Too Young to Die.”

She has now taken the helm as lead singer in our house band, Caryl and the Churchills and we can’t wait to hear her once again!

Monday is always a bit of a slog. So let this brighten your blues - storyteller number 2! Matt has been with us since our second (?) Mixtape and he’s a key member of our little community.

Matt Anderson is a writer and filmmaker best known for creating the comedy web series “Theater People”. He lives with his wife, son, and hound dog in a state of perpetual nostalgia for the 1990s, where the VHS of BACK TO THE FUTURE is always in the VCR and it says “To Be Continued…” at the end!

The theme is Rewind and stories can be about any riff on the idea of a do-over.
