The City of Minneapolis is lifting Winter Parking Restrictions effective 8 a.m. today, March 29.
The City of Minneapolis implemented Winter Parking Restrictions Jan. 25 after significant snow accumulation narrowed city streets making access difficult for emergency vehicles. Limiting parking to one side of most neighborhood streets created more reliable vehicle access for emergency responses.
Milder weather has allowed the snow pack to melt, returning streets to more normal conditions. Beginning 8 a.m. today, normal parking rules will apply on all city streets in Minneapolis.
Although the Winter Parking Restrictions are being lifted, it is still possible for the City to declare additional Snow Emergencies. Sign up for alerts to stay informed of the parking rules at minneapolismn.gov/snow.
Winter Parking Restrictions resume at 8 a.m. today, Feb. 25. Do not park on the EVEN numbered side of non-Snow Emergency routes.

Public Works is working to prepare for another significant, slow-moving, multi-day snowstorm.
We encourage everyone to start planning ahead and alter plans where possible. We also encourage residents to proactively move vehicles off the street and into garages, driveways, and parking lots if available.
As done in the past, the priority is clearing arterial streets with high volumes of vehicles. Please remember, winter parking restrictions are still in place and are essential to maintain access for emergency vehicles, plows, and others.
Please continue to follow us for updates regarding snow plowing efforts and potential snow emergencies throughout the week.
Reminder: Winter Parking Restrictions remain in effect. Do not
park on the even side of streets that are not Snow Emergency Routes.
The heavy accumulation has narrowed streets, which pose a safety hazard when emergency vehicles cannot navigate these streets to reach people who need assistance.
City crews continue to work on road and alley conditions. With warmer temps this week, now is the time to remove compacted ice and snow from sidewalks, shovel around trash bins, etc.

Even as Day 3 of the Minneapolis Snow Emergency wraps up tonight following the latest major winter storm, the response work isn’t ending. Public works crews will continue working on City-wide clean-up efforts throughout the weekend and into next week. That effort includes additional passes on residential streets where cars were parked, alley plowing and corner clearing work, which is already underway.
