Tonight is the night for improv!
Look, is this the greatest graphic we've ever made? No. But this would only be a problem if we were offering courses on graphic design, which...we're not .
Learn improv at Strike and graphic design...somewhere else.

You all are very good at whispering....
WHEW FOR NOW.
Friday, Friday, Friday! Yes, this Friday!
If everyone could take one second please and whisper to the sky, "Good news, Strike Theater! It's an easy and inexpensive repair and everything is fine", that would be really appreciated....
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH FUN
A Letter From Allison
To the Strike Theater Community:
It is with a lot of mixed emotions that I announce that I am retiring from my time as Co-Director of Strike Theater at the end of 2024.
Strike was a dream for years before we even knew exactly what it was, and has been an intense labor of love for the last decade. I’ve had the honor of watching thousands of stories on the stage, seen hundreds of stories come to life in classes, and connect with people I never would have met otherwise. I got to stretch and learn improv, and be a part of the amazing improv and sketch communities in the Twin Cities. I’ve hosted circuses with my dog, The Professor, while aerialists flew above us, contortionists twisted around us, and jugglers had to be told they couldn’t throw fire due to our insurance.
And while those memories will always be cherished, they are also just part of the story. I tend to joke with people that running a theater is much more picking up people’s used candy wrappers, chewed gum, and spilled drinks than I anticipated. We’ve had epic battles about parking with city hall, fought about the amount of ‘waste’ pressure our patrons would put on the pipes of the building, and so much other stuff we never knew we would have to handle. And that has been exhausting.
When we started Strike, it was a dream to make it full time employment, but life has lifed and life and opportunities have changed. The pandemic shut us down for years (and still we survived–insert clapping here) and priorities have shifted keeping Strike only part of my work story. Helping run Strike Theater has been one of the most intense projects of my life, and I’m ready to not be balancing quite so much every day.
I feel like now is a good time to do this as our 10 year lease comes to an end, SEIU local 26 (or partner union) is relocating, and we’ve mainly recovered into a new normal after being shut for the pandemic. Mike has some exciting plans he’ll be sharing really soon and I’m so pumped to see where they will lead. At the end of the day making a new physical space for our art forms in the Twin Cities was the goal, and it was my goal to make sure when I left it would continue to be a stage for artists and audiences.
I’ll still be occasionally producing shows, helping volunteer at the box office, sitting in the seats and who knows what else. My time at Strike isn’t completely over, but will certainly be changing.
I want to thank all of you that have supported us through the years in a million different ways. We never would have made it through the last decade without you.
Cheers,
Allison Broeren
returns to Strike Theater for 2 evenings of improvised one act theater magic. Bascially the Guthrie can take that weekend off, because we’ve got theater covered.
Hi! A quick note because I've been getting a lot of show submissions.
If you've reached out to me with show ideas recently, please know that I'm grateful for them. I truly am.
However, Strike Theater has been working on a new show model for 2025 since midway through 2024.
The new model will be announced in a few weeks, and I'm really hoping you like it. It will be an opportunity to highlight a lot of the great work happening in the TC, which has always been our goal.
Obviously there has been a lot of change happening recently and we're looking at how we can be involved, but we're excited for this model and we are hoping that it will earn your support.
Thanks all,
Mike Fotis

When we announced that we were going to open Strike Theater back in 2016, some of the very first people to reach out and offer help were the folks from HUGE Theater. Hell, Butch Roy even took the time to help Joe and I build flats and electrical cords…and a tech booth.
Throughout the years, that whole team was always available with guidance and encouragement and I know that Allison Broeren and I will always be thankful for their friendship.
Running a theater is fu***ng hard. HUGE did it better than anyone.
