There were many guest speakers in the classrooms: law enforcement, retired Navy officer, Gleam dentist, gallo glass machine shop engineer manager, chipotle manager, Rhombus account executive, Stanislaus county planning coordinators, graphic designers, operations manager from Conagra, animal control officer, Modesto parks crew leader, Pharmacist, MID representative, Vet assistant, interpreter, yard duty, inventory manager from foster farms, nurse practitioner, open heart surgery nurse, Medical spa director, Referee NAACP , College football coach and a Forman for Agrilands. We appreciate all you do for our community!! Thank you!

In case you missed it, these 6th-grade scholars from Sonoma Elementary received first place in this year's Stanislaus County Math Blast, led by the Stanislaus County Math Council!

Each year at 6th-grade Math Blast, students from across the county are challenged with two rigorous math tests that sharpen their critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. These tests build their skill sets and help prepare them for tests like CAASPP and other high-level exams.

Another MCS math team also placed in the top ten in the competition. Congrats to our Lakewood Lions for their strong performance on these tests!

Way to go to these brilliant Dolphins, who problem-solve each day, one wave at a time!

Hey parents!

We are organizing a candy drive for our upcoming fall festival, and we would greatly appreciate your support. The candy drive is essential in making the festival a success, and we are aiming to collect 25,000 pieces of candy.
The top classes that collects the most candy will win awesome prizes, so there's an extra incentive for everyone to participate. We will be judging by individual pieces (count on bag) of candy, not just bags, so every contribution counts towards our goal. Please write your child’s name and class on the bag and drop off in the office or to the teacher. Your contribution will help create a memorable and enjoyable experience for all the students during the fall festival.

📣🚌Attention School Bus Riders! 🚌📣

Modesto City Schools is rolling out a new program to enhance student bus rider safety and boost student attendance in 2023/2024!

The program is called Zonar Z Pass and it's easy to use! Riders scan their card to the Z Pass reader by the bus door as they board and exit the bus, Z Pass securely captures and transmits the date, time, and location of the scan, and families and authorized personnel will soon be able to gain secure instant online access to the information through the Zonar MyView mobile app.

MCS is rolling out the new technology in phases. As part of phase one, eligible students will be given Z Pass cards at their school's Round Up to use this fall. Phase two will include the launch of the MyView app this spring. Once the app is available, parents can track their student's bus, receive notifications about when and where their student gets on or off the bus, as well as receive alerts about any bus changes or delays.

Please note, that if a student does not have their card with them, they will still be allowed to ride the bus.

Join us for our annual "Stuff the Bus" event, July 29th from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm. Donations from members of our community are welcomed to support our students in need.

The event will have:
✂️ Free haircuts for students K-12 by Paul Mitchell the School Modesto
🎨 Free Face Painting
🎟 Raffle Prizes
🍿 Popcorn for $1.00 *No charge with your donation

Families in need of a backpack/supplies will have the opportunity to sign their student(s) up. Parents will be notified by phone when they can pick up the backpack/supplies at the Transportation Department. Distribution will be on Monday, July 31, 2023.

School is back and this year we want to help 15 teachers with supplies! The employees of Simile Construction Service, Inc are preparing 15 school supply cakes for giveaway. Nominate a teacher (and where they teach) in the comments below. Teacher must be within Stanislaus County and entries will be taken until September 23rd at 5pm. We will randomly select 15 teachers on September 26th.

This event is for all Sonoma families, new & returning. Come get important information, sign up for before & after school programs, PTA, and more. Find out who will be your child’s teacher. Drop off medicines to be kept at school. Check in with our school nurse, and get your child’s computer. See you all then!

Special art, special teachers, special friends, and special guests all make Sonoma’s last school day one to remember!

Too cute not to share! Our students are looking forward to finishing this school year and moving on to the next grade level!

We can’t stop with the news from Sonoma! Our choir sang at a Modesto Nuts game, and students who participated in a reading challenge were able to attend the game.
I’m addition, our 5th grade GATE class showcased their state report as a parade! You can see these projects have us wanting to travel to their states this summer! 😎

Sonoma keeps going strong! Today was our Career Day, and Mrs.Marine led the way with a great line up of wonderful community members to share their talents with our classes.
Our favorite quote of the day was from a first grader, who said, “I want to hear about my teacher’s job!” 💕

We had a whale of a time at Sonoma today! Our PTA sponsored ocean life assembly brought in a baby whale 🐋 and more to share. Thank you, Sonoma PTA!
