Happy 4th of July! Today signifies the historic battle for freedom and independence that shaped the birth of the United States of America! Through bravery and resilience the 13 colonies fought to break free from British rule and create a new nation. Many experienced the triumphs and sacrifices that laid the foundation for the United States we know today - a time of courage, unity, and the pursuit of liberty! The American Revolution 1775-1783.

Happy Flag Day! Here are three facts about the American Flag you may not have known.
1. The American Flag was first carried into battle at the Battle of Brandywine on September 11, 1777.
2. The most recognized beginnings of Flag Day was June 14, 1889. Professor George Bolch, led patriotic celebrations at a free kindergarten to honor Flag Day in New York City.
3. President Wilson, in 1916, and President Coolidge, in 1927, issued statements asking for June 14 to be observed as the National Flag Day. It wasn't until August 3, 1949, that Congress approved the national observance, and President Harry Truman signed it into law.
