Keeping babies warm in the winter isn't complicated when you know what to look for. ❄️ We have 5 helpful tips for staying cozy below.

1️⃣ Check hands, feet, and face
Your baby's extremities, their hands, feet, and face, are the best areas to check for over or underheating warning signs. If they're shivering, cold, and red or have turned pale and hard, bring them inside right away.

2️⃣ Dress in layers
Anytime your baby is not in a car seat and will be outside, layers can help keep them warm.

3️⃣ Ditch the coat in the car
Despite the cold weather temps, it's very important to make sure you never put your baby in a car seat with outerwear on. It may seem counterintuitive, but when there's too much material between your baby and their car seat straps, the material can compress and leave space for your baby to become unsecured.

4️⃣ Wear your baby for warmth
Wearable baby carriers don't just free up your hands, but they're also a great way to use your body heat to provide extra warmth in chilly weather.

5️⃣ Keep the indoor temps consistent
You may be worried about your baby being too cold, but too much indoor heat can also be a problem. Indoor heating typically has low humidity, and the lack of moisture in the air can dry out your baby's delicate skin. Keeping indoor temperatures as cool as you can tolerate during the day, between 68° and 72°, can help.

Get reimbursed for your CPR and First Aid certification! These reimbursements are first come, first serve. Eligible trainings must have been completed between July 1, 2023 and June 30, 2024.
