Please pray the Prayer of Repentance, and Mercy for the United States of America: Heavenly Father, we, the children of the Republic, implore thy gentle mercy and ask for an outpouring of grace upon these lands and her people. So many have turned away from you and your Church and our crimes cry up to heaven for justice. We pray for thy mercy and the grace to turn cold hearts towards you, our Creator, with greater fidelity towards the bride of Christ - the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. We unite this prayer through the intersession of St Joseph - terror of demons, and the Immaculate heart of Mary - whose triumph we look towards with hopeful anticipation. What happens when we are persistent in our Prayers? Click on the "See More" link to read more. To find out read and meditate on the following passage from the Gospel of Matthew Chapter 15 Verses 21-28.

At that time Jesus withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon. And behold, a Canaanite woman of that district came and called out,
"Have pity on me, Lord, Son of David! My daughter is tormented by a demon." But he did not say a word in answer to her.

His disciples came and asked him, "Send her away, for she keeps calling out after us." He said in reply, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel." But the woman came and did him homage, saying, "Lord, help me."

He said in reply, "It is not right to take the food of the children
and throw it to the dogs." She said, "Please, Lord, for even the dogs eat the scraps that fall from the table of their masters."

Then Jesus said to her in reply, "O woman, great is your faith! Let it be done for you as you wish." And her daughter was healed from that hour.

“Sandy, her sodium levels are not increasing as the doctors had hoped and she is really struggling with swallowing which makes eating incredibly difficult. Because she is having all these difficulties, it is looking like we are going to move to hospice care tomorrow. That means we are going to do our best to get her stable. We don't know if that will be at home or the hospital.”

Please pray for the following intentions:

The happy repose of the souls of Paul Caruso, Albert S. Sbarro, Albert D. Calvanelli and for Marie A. Hanlon and for all who mourn them.

The young man who talked to myself and the other person praying in front of our local abortion center. He read our pro-life materials and asked me to give him my rosary beads which he then put around his neck. He looked like he was waiting for someone to come out of the center.

The young lady who got into a fight with her boyfriend in the abortion center parking lot and drove off without going in to the center.

The young lady who stopped her car and yelled at us for being pro-life. After she yelled at us, she drove away with doing any violence to us.

In the Spring of 1994 Pope Saint John Paul II urged the faithful to offer the prayer to St. Michael the Archangel. Click on the "See More" link to read more. This is because by praying the prayer to Saint Michael the archangel, which is shown below, Saint Michael will intercede for us against the grave evils we see present in our world — the sins of abortion, euthanasia, terrorism, genocide, and the like.

The prayer to Saint Michael the Archangel

“St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan, and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.”

Please pray for the healing of the following persons & pray that their medical team do what is right to help them get better and pray for their caregivers and family members:

Joe, his wound on his good leg is infected with Klebsiella that requires 14 days of an antibiotic IV drip.

Please pray the following prayer to Saint Josemaria Escriva if you have been diagnosed with diabetes or with pre-diabetes, for those suffering with diabetes and for those diagnosed with pre-diabetes:

O miraculous Saint Josemaria Escriva, I come before you to seek your inspiration and strength in carrying this heavy burden of mine: my diabetes or pre-diabetes. If God allows it, I hope to be healed from this sickness through your powerful intercession. May you always lead me towards perseverance and fidelity in doing God’s work every day. Let my weakness hinder me not from following God’s footsteps. May I soon realize that the cross that I am carrying allows me to share in the sufferings of Christ. And in hope, I may also share His glory, together with you, in heaven.

Saint Josemaria Escriva, you yourself suffered from diabetes. You endured the tribulations and sacrifices of being diagnosed with this disease like mine. You bore it patiently and even embraced it as you continued on with your priestly ministry. Through God’s intervention, you were miraculously healed from diabetes, for He had seen your unwavering faith in Him through Jesus on the cross and through your generous love and care for the poor. You embraced your cross, and it never hindered you in continuing to be an instrument of God’s love and mercy on earth. I hope to obtain the necessary graces to lead a life like yours, O Saint Josemaria Escriva. Help me to embrace my cross fully in leading a life worthy before the eyes of God.

Allow my prayer for diabetics and pre-diabetics to console those who are carrying this sickness. May my prayer accompany them in their journey in life. May it inspire them to see their sufferings as sharing with the sufferings of Christ on the cross. Through your intercession, may you also grant them the graces they need to fully embrace the cross of their sickness. May they also lead a life worthy of God at the service of His people.

Saint Josemaria Escriva, pray for us. Amen.

A Meditation on the Life of Saint Maximillian Kolbe (See Picture), a priest whose heroic life and death as a martyr of Charity the Church celebrates on August 14. Click on the “See More” link to read more.

I begin with a Reading from the Gospel of John Chapter 15 verses 12-13: Jesus said to his disciples: "This is my commandment: love one another as I love you. No one has greater love than this, to lay down one's life for one's friends.

An inspiring quote from this incredible priest and martyr is: “Let us not forget that Jesus not only suffered, but also rose in glory; so, too, we go to the glory of the Resurrection by way of suffering and the Cross.” Father Kolbe was zealous in spreading the truths of the Catholic Faith as well as the story of the Mother of God both in his native Poland and in Japan. During the N**i occupation of Poland, Father Kolbe was sent to the Auschwitz concentration camp.

The N**i concentration camps of World War II were indescribably horrific, and many of the prisoners lost hope: of being rescued, of surviving, of finding any good in mankind.

When one prisoner went missing from the camp, the deputy camp commander picked ten men to be starved to death in an underground bunker to deter further escape attempts. When one of the selected men cried out, "My wife! My children!", Saint Kolbe volunteered to take his place and the N**is agreed to the swap.

According to camp survivors the starving prisoners could be heard praying and singing hymns, led by the priest who had volunteered for an agonizing death. After the ten had been starved and deprived of water for two weeks, only Kolbe remained alive. In order to hasten his death, they gave Kolbe a lethal injection of carbolic acid. He died on August 14 and his body was cremated on August, 15 which is the feast day of the Assumption of Mary. The man whose place he took lived to tell the world about the heroic act of love by Maximilian Kolbe and died a natural death at age 93.

In light of the troubles facing our world, let us resolve to remain steadfast amidst crises, both personal and worldwide, and not give in to the wickedness and snares of evil. St. Maximilian Kolbe can help us do just that when we follow the example of his life and when we ask for his intercessory prayers to God.

On Tuesday August 6, 2024 the church celebrates the Transfiguration of Jesus Christ. Click on the “See More” link to read more. The image is a depiction of the Transfiguration of Jesus Christ.

The story of the Transfiguration of Jesus Christ can be found in the gospels of Mark 9:2-8, Matt. 17:1-13 and Luke 9:28-36. Following is a portion of a sermon by Pope Francis on Sunday March 1, 2015.

The invitation at the Transfiguration, for the disciples as well as for the faithful today, is to listen to Jesus and to follow him, laying down our lives as a gift of love for one another in obedience to the will of the Father, the Pope explained. “The way of Jesus always leads us to happiness, do not forget it!” Pope Francis said. “There will always be a cross in the middle, but at the end… (he) always leads us to happiness.”

See the picture and below for two important messages from Saint Alphonsus Liguori. “Acquire the habit of speaking to God as if you were alone with Him, familiarly and with confidence and love, as to the dearest and most loving of friends. Speak to Him often of your business, your plans, your troubles, your fears - of everything that concerns you. Converse with Him confidently and frankly; for God is not wont to speak to a soul that does not speak to Him.”

Today, Wednesday July 31, 2024 is the feast day of Saint Ignatius of Loyola who promoted the idea that all individuals should do a daily examination of conscience. Click on the “See More” link to read more.

If you have not done the daily examination of conscience before, now is a good time to start. The daily examination of conscience is a technique of prayerful reflection on the events of the day in order to see God’s presence in my life and discern his direction for me.

The AGARTED method presented here I have adapted from a technique described by Ignatius of Loyola in his Spiritual Exercises and it should take you only about fifteen minutes.

Alert yourself to the presence of God by coming into the awareness that God is present within you and in all that surrounds you.

Give Thanks by spending a few moments reviewing the events of today with gratitude for today’s gifts.

Ask God to send you His Holy Spirit and ask the Holy Spirit to help you look at your actions, attitudes and motives with honesty and patience.

Review your day by recalling the events of your day; explore the context of your actions and by allowing God to speak, challenge, encourage and teach you.

Talk heart-to-heart with Jesus by sharing your thoughts with Jesus about your actions, feelings and interactions, and ask for forgiveness, and direction.

End with the Suscipe Prayer of Saint Ignatius of Loyola: Take, Lord, and receive all my liberty, my memory, my understanding, and my entire will. All that I have and call my own, you have given to me. To you, Lord, I return it. Everything is yours; do with it what you will. Give me only your love and your grace that is enough for me.
Do put into practice what you have learned during your daily examination of conscience.

I desire that You pe*****te me completely, that I belong to You, that You enter into my heart. I desire that only You dwell there. I desire to love You eternally. Fill me with Your holy love. Strengthen me and be with me always. May Your Holy Name be praised. I pray to you, Lord, for every person, for every heart that is beating for You.

Answer their prayers. Do not allow any one of them to be lost. This life passes so quickly. Allow us to become aware of what is important, to not lose ourselves, but to gain You. You are the only center of our lives. Only with You can I know what and who I am. Come, Lord. Come Most Holy Spirit. My heart is waiting for you. Amen.

The picture is of Our lady and Baby Jesus holding brown scapulars. Tuesday July 16, 2024 is the feast day of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Click on the “See More” link to read more.

The lambcross828 page at www.facebook.com/lambcross828 has been consecrated to Our Lady under her title of Our Lady of Mount Carmel since its inception on July 23, 2016 and the purpose of the Lambcross828 page is to help people to learn about the Catholic faith and to put what they learn into action.

Also, it was on July 16, 1251 that Our Lady appeared to St. Simon Stock and gave to him a brown woolen scapular saying, “Receive, my beloved son,” Our Lady said, “this Habit; whosoever dies clothed in this shall not suffer eternal fire!” Originally, this promise only applied to members of the Carmelite order but later on the Catholic Church extended this magnificent privilege to all the laity who are willing to be invested in the Brown Scapular of the Carmelites and who perpetually wear it.

To be eligible for the scapular promise, you must be enrolled in the Brown Scapular Confraternity. This is a simple ceremony which can be performed by any priest. The scapular must be 100% wool without plastic casing and is worn over the head, under one’s clothes, with one square of wool hanging on the chest and the other on the back. After enrollment, you must wear the Brown Scapular while faithfully walking in the way of God and His Catholic Church and trusting in the goodness and power of Our Lady that she will procure for the one wearing the Brown Scapular all the necessary graces needed to attain Heaven.

More information can be found at https://www.sistersofcarmel.com/faqs-the-brown-scapular/, at
https://www.simplycatholic.com/why-wear-a-scapular/ and you can obtain brown scapulars at https://scapulars.com/

How to incorporate the Rule of Saint Benedict Nursia into our everyday lives. Pictured is an early copy of the rule of Saint Benedict. Click on the “See More” link to read more.

Eat simply - Eat modest amounts of simple healthy food but always have enough to share with visiting guests.

Live simply - Live in a minimalist but comfortable home. Have just enough stuff to meet your needs. One way to find out whether you have too much stuff is to go through your home and other storage places where you have stuff and itemize what you have. Modern Benedictine communities value and enjoy the usefulness of possessions yet practice restraint in terms of attachment and ownership.

Live Counter Cultural – Don't be afraid to live out the gospel in the midst of a complex secular world.

Embrace humility – Stop chasing perfection and recognize both your human weaknesses and your capacity for greater self-knowledge. Don't expect reward and recognition for everything you do. Being humble doesn't have to mean losing your self-confidence.

Seek quiet – Disconnect from technology more. Just as Jesus withdrew to a quiet place to pray and escape the busy social whirl of his ministry, Benedictine life can teach us the value of moments of quiet contemplation in our age of multimedia communication. Learn to appreciate the beauty of nature and make time for moments of silence and stillness as much as you can.

Be a good household manager - Many of St. Benedict’s ideas for running a monastery make good sense: to value and respect basic commodities such as water, to look after all created things, to not be wasteful and to repair things and recycle as much as possible.

Be open to sharing faith – Benedictine followers have great respect for different Christian traditions, other faiths and an openness to sharing their lives with the non-religious.

Cultivate discipline – Don't be put off by the discipline of monastic life – it doesn't come easily to the monks at first. Instead try improving your self-discipline in incremental steps. If you feel you need to stop bad habits do so gradually. Reduce sugar from your diet one foodstuff at a time, don't cut out alcohol completely but practice moderate drinking instead. As you cut out these distractions and obstacles gradually you'll slowly encounter the keys to unlocking what's been stopping you seeking ultimate fulfillment.

Seek God's will in your life and do not be afraid to do whatever He wants.

Make sure that you fully understand His will and how to carry it out.

Ask God in prayer for all the graces that you need to help you accomplish his will in your life.

Make prayer a huge part of your daily life.

Tomorrow is the feast day of St. Benedict of Nursia. He was a simple Italian monk who lived in the sixth century. Click on the “See More” link to read more.

It was he who prescribed a way of Spiritual Living known as the rule of St. Benedict that has been the rule most followed in monastic life. Within a few decades of Benedict’s death there were houses of monks following his rule and these monks educated the majority of Europe’s political, civic, and religious leaders for centuries.

The Rule of St. Benedict is not only the basic guide for living for monks of various orders, but following it is a way of life rooted in the gospel and grounded in the principles of charity, humility, stability and faithfulness. It is drawn from the call to follow Jesus Christ, to be transformed by the work of the Holy Spirit, and to become living witnesses to the grace of God in the world. The rule has 73 Chapters. While many of the chapters deal with stuff specific to monastic community life, some chapters can apply to everyone, monk or not. See the next post for how lay-people can apply the Rule of Saint Benedict in their daily lives.

Act of Reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

Opening Prayer

O Jesus, Divine Savior, deign to cast a look of mercy upon Your children, who assemble in the same spirit of faith, reparation, and love, and come to deplore their own infidelities, and those of all poor sinners, their brethern. May we touch Your Divine Heart by the unanimous and solemn promises we are about to make and obtain mercy for ourselves, for the world, and for all who are so unhappy as not to love You.

Petition and Response
For the forgetfulness and ingratitude of men, We will console You, O Lord
For the way You are deserted in Your holy tabernacle, We will console You, O Lord
For the crimes of sinners, We will console You, O Lord
For the hatred of the impious, We will console You, O Lord
For the blasphemies uttered against You, We will console You, O Lord
For the sacrileges that profane Your Sacrament of Love, We will console You, O Lord
For the outrages against Your divinity, We will console You, O Lord
For the injuries of which You are the adorable Victim, We will console You, O Lord
For the coldness of the greater part of your children, We will console You, O Lord
For the contempt of your loving invitation, We will console You, O Lord
For the infidelity of those who called themselves Your friends, We will console You, O Lord
For the abuse of Your grace... For our own unfaithfulness, We will console You, O Lord
For the incomprehensible hardness of our hearts, We will console You, O Lord
For our long delay in loving You, We will console You, O Lord
For our tepidity in Your holy service, We will console You, O Lord
For Your bitter sadness at the loss of souls, We will console You, O Lord
For Your long waiting at the door of our hearts, We will console You, O Lord
For the heartless scorn that grieves You, We will console You, O Lord
For Your loving sighs... For Your loving tears, We will console You, O Lord
For Your loving imprisonment, We will console You, O Lord
For Your loving death, We will console You, O Lord

Closing Prayer

Let us pray: O Jesus! Divine Savior, from whose Heart comes forth this bitter complaint, "I looked for one that would comfort me, and I found none," graciously accept the feeble consolation we offer You, and aid us powerfully by your grace, that we may, for the time to come, shun more and more all that can displease You, and prove ourselves in everything, and everywhere, and forever Your most faithful most faithful and devoted servants. We ask it through Your Sacred Heart, O Lord, who lives and reigns with the Father and the Holy Spirit one God, world without end amen.
