Different stocks carry different levels of investment risk. Large-cap stocks (such as Apple) are relatively safe investments, but they provide less return-on-investment (ROI). Mid-cap stocks (such as Regions Bank) have lower market value (typically between $2-7 billion) but can potentially yield higher ROI. Low-cap stocks (like Lululemon used to be) have the lowest market value (less than $1 billion) and are the riskiest form of stocks, but they also have the greatest potential for ROI.

Bonds (also known as fixed income) are a way for companies to receive funds for running their business without issuing stocks to the public. Investors provide companies with a sum of money and receive interest payments from that company for the duration of the bond. Longer duration bonds may be riskier than shorter ones, but they can be a great way to balance out your portfolio.

Timeline photos 01/26/2022

Stocks (also known as equities) are a way for companies to issue shares to the public. Companies issue stocks to receive capital for running their business, and investors use them to strengthen their portfolio. However, some stocks are riskier than others, which is why it's important to have an advisor you can trust.
