Led by Reid Spears on the piano and lead vocals, this 8-piece band takes you on a timeless journey through the catalogs of these two musical giants. Dedicated to top-notch musicianship, the band performs a completely live show without the use of any backing tracks. Billy Elton will have the audience on its feet singing along to such classics as “Crocodile Rock”, “Only the Good Die Young”, “Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting”, “Piano Man”, and many others in a show that is exciting, engaging, and entertaining for all ages, young and old!
The band has become the premier celebration of the music of Billy Joel and Elton John in the Midwest. They have played sold-out and near capacity shows at numerous venues, and their outdoor summer concerts have often drawn 2000-3000 people. In 2017, they celebrated the 40th anniversary of Billy's landmark album "The Stranger" by performing the entire album in all of their shows, and they performed over half of Elton’s legendary double album “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” in all of their 2023 shows in honor of that album’s 50th anniversary.

DID YOU KNOW??
Munster is home to a piece of (almost) forgotten history- a Mile Marker from 1868! 🚂
This marker was originally along the old Columbus, Chicago, & Indiana Central Railway (CC&IC), letting conductors know it’s 284 miles to Columbus. It should been removed in 1984- but was left behind! Now located along Munster’s Pennsy Greenway at Centennial Park.
Read more about it's interesting history:
"THE PENNSY GREENWAY MILE POST AT CENTENNIAL PARK"
Munster’s first railroad line was the Cincinnati & Chicago Air-Line Railroad. The term “air-line” was at that time used to designate a railroad with the shortest distance between two points. The Lake County section of that railroad was constructed in 1865, the same year that the railroad merged with the Chicago and Great Eastern Railway.
Three years later, 1868, that road merged with the Columbus and Indiana Central to become the Columbus, Chicago & Indiana Central Railway (CC&IC) .
This is likely when the mile post was erected. This sign is 284 miles from Columbus, Ohio.
Each railroad company had its own style of mile posts, but all installed every mile along the tracks. They were important because they told the engineers where they were located (especially valuable in large stretches nondescript landscape). The posts could also be used to determine the train’s speed by seeing how much time elapsed passing from one post to the next.
In 1884, the CC&IC was sold at foreclosure and became the Chicago, St. Louis & Pittsburgh Railroad. After a merger six years later, it became the Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Chicago, & St. Louis Railway. With such a long name, it was nicknamed “The Panhandle” because its route passed the narrow West Virginia panhandle west of southwest Pennsylvania.
The Panhandle line was leased to the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1921.
After this part of the Panhandle was abandoned in 1984, the rails and mile posts were removed. But somehow, the one, now in Centennial Park, was skipped and forgotten, which is why it exists today.
By the way:
In 1881, the Monon Railroad (then the Louisville, New Albany & Chicago Railway) merged with the Chicago & Indianapolis Air Line Railway (which at that time did not extend to either Chicago or Indianapolis). The Monon then extended that line into Chicago, passing through Munster and Hammond. These two “air lines” crossed west of Calumet Avenue. In the years since, both rail lines have undergone mergers and have changed their names and the Panhandle tracks removed. However the intersection where they crossed is, more than 140 years later, still often referred to as “Air Line Junction.”
